The princess who stands against the status quo may not be an entirely original character type, but Princess Leia Organa undeniably embodies it best. Unlike other characters from “One Piece” who share this role, Neferari Vivi is the one who shares the closest resemblance to Leia within the anime.

Vivi is initially an ally formed by the Straw Hat Pirates among their earliest encounters, and for much of the first 150 episodes of “One Piece,” she holds a significant role in the storyline. Although it’s uncertain when Vivi will reunite with the crew, her unique part in the narrative echoes the iconic Star Wars princess, offering an entertaining comparison point.

Although Leia’s time posing as a bounty hunter was short-lived and resulted in her capture, the plan to rescue Han Solo proved successful. The setback of her premature exposure was not a hindrance; instead, it seemed that contingency plans had been put in place for such an occurrence. These plans ultimately led to Han’s liberation, the demise of Jabba the Hutt, and Boba Fett being fed to the Sarlacc Pit.

For a significant portion of her youth, Vivi served as a bounty hunter before joining the ranks of Baroque Works at age 14, two years prior to crossing paths with the Straw Hats. It wasn’t until late in her career as a bounty hunter that she was finally apprehended in action. During her time with the organization, Vivi even worked alongside Mr. 9 and climbed up the hierarchy quite high. While we don’t often see Vivi demonstrating her abilities as a bounty hunter, her skills are hinted at through various tricks she has mastered.

Vivi was ultimately exposed, yet remained silent about it towards Crocodile. Robin actually allowed Vivi to uncover Crocodile’s real identity as the head of Baroque Works. While this stroke of luck undeniably contributed to Vivi’s triumph, it doesn’t diminish the fact that Vivi managed to carry out a covert mission for years on end. In much the same way Leia concealed her Rebel affiliation for a significant period, Vivi demonstrates an impressive capacity to execute a plan and achieve her lofty aspirations effectively.

Bail Organa played a crucial role in launching the Rebellion against the Empire. Since the Empire’s establishment, he had been actively resisting its rule. He was privy to information about surviving Jedi, and managed to keep this knowledge hidden from the Emperor and Darth Vader until his untimely death. Unfortunately, his life was cut short when Alderaan was destroyed by the Death Star. This tragedy left his daughter Leia an orphan, compelling her to carry on her father’s legacy.

King Nefertari Cobra didn’t play as significant a part as Bail did during the Alabasta Arc. He wasn’t particularly active throughout this storyline. Although he did dispatch his guards to examine Baroque Works and allowed Vivi to leave, he couldn’t prevent the rising tensions in Alabasta. While Cobra was under Crocodile’s attack campaign, it is worth noting that he mostly remained seated in his palace until Crocodile attacked him directly. In retrospect, he managed to restore Alabasta to its previous splendor and is generally regarded as a good king. However, these positive aspects don’t overshadow the mistakes he made along the way.

During Reverie, Cobra challenged both the World Government and Imu, daring to ask forbidden questions and uncover secrets regarding his own ancestry. His actions mirror those of Bail, as he stood up against government corruption, ultimately paying the price. In a heart-wrenching twist, Cobra gave his life so that Sabo and the Revolutionary Army could continue their fight. Tragically, much like Bail who couldn’t tell Leia about Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, Cobra died without revealing a secret about his daughter.

Vivi Only Recently Became a Rebel

Her Part in Reverie and Current Position Mimic Leia’s in A New Hope

Currently, Vivi finds herself in a situation quite analogous to Leia’s due to the happenings in Reverie. For instance, she was captive under the World Government for being perceived as a threat. Although Vivi hasn’t actively rebelled against the World Government, her actions such as safeguarding the Fish Man Island Royal Family and her association with the Straw Hat Pirates could be seen as indirect acts of resistance. Moreover, her link to the Will of D might be interpreted as playing a role similar to being part of a significant faction.

Vivi has consistently fought against corruption throughout her life, which led her to forgo returning to the ocean. Now, given that the World Government abducted her and murdered her father, there seems to be no reason left for her not to take action. Along with some unanticipated allies, she’s been forced into hiding. Despite these trying circumstances, Vivi remains undeterred and is resolved to expose the truth about what happened.

There’s been some discussion about where Vivi might head next, and we can’t forget Morgan’s plans either. If Vivi doesn’t stick with Morgan’s group, her possible destinations include rejoining the Straw Hat Pirates or another unspecified location. The Straw Hats would gladly accept her back, but they are currently dealing with threats from the World Government in the shape of the God’s Knights. On the other hand, the Revolutionary Army shares Vivi’s values, but they are being falsely accused of her father’s murder. Regardless of her choice, it seems that Vivi will play a significant role in the climactic events to come.

In the narrative, the ordeal of Vivi being abducted by CP0 and its connection to her father’s demise mirrors Leia’s captivity on the Death Star. Despite enduring such hardships, both characters continue to persevere, displaying their resilience and intelligence rather than succumbing to their pain. While Vivi is not an exact replica of Leia, the similarities in their character development serve as a testament to Vivi’s strong and well-crafted persona.
