The final season of Power Book IV: Force concluded in January 2026, and the series finale smoothly transitioned the Power storyline into Power: Legacy. The Power franchise has become a surprisingly strong media universe, currently featuring four TV shows with at least two more planned.
The world of Power first launched on Starz in June 2014 with the original six seasons. Since then, the story has expanded through spin-offs and prequels, exploring the criminal organization built by James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).
The recently concluded third season marks the end of Power Book IV: Force. The series follows Tommy as he relocates to Chicago following Ghost’s death, where he quickly gains power but also creates new rivalries. To protect himself, Tommy unexpectedly enlists the help of Tariq St. Patrick (played by Michael Rainey Jr.).
The last time we saw Tariq was in Power Book II: Ghost, right after he killed his father. He faced Tommy and wouldn’t apologize, believing it was the only way to break free from the dangerous life his father, Ghost, had created for him and his mother. After helping Tommy wrap things up at the end of Force, Tariq makes him an offer.
Tariq mentioned that New York wants Tommy to return, suggesting they could achieve great things together there. Tommy seems very receptive to the idea, and the moment is perfectly capped off with the playing of the theme song from the original Power, “Big Rich Town.”
Power Book IV: Force’s Ending Sets Up Legacy’s Focus On Tommy Egan & Tariq St. Patrick In New York
So, Power Book IV: Force wrapped up by clearly setting the stage for what’s coming in Power: Legacy – the sixth installment in this ever-expanding Power universe. The frustrating part? We still don’t have a release date, even though it was announced way back in June 2025. Interestingly, it looks like the prequel, Power: Origins, which dives into the younger days of Tommy and Ghost, might actually be further along in production, but honestly, things can change quickly in this franchise!
This new collaboration will echo a dynamic we first saw in the original Power series. Just as Tommy previously worked with the father, he’ll now be partnering with the son. The differences in how these two partnerships function will be a compelling and dramatic element of the new show. This connection was hinted at in the finale of Ghost back in 2024.
Currently, Power: Legacy is in the very early stages of production, and updates have been scarce. Tommy is still struggling to accept that Tariq killed Ghost, while Tariq feels Tommy doesn’t understand his motivations. This unresolved conflict promises plenty of drama between the two.
A Power Book Prequel About Tommy Is Also In The Works
We’ll probably see another Power spin-off before Power: Legacy arrives. Power: Origins, announced in 2024, seems to be further along in development. This spin-off is a prequel set in the late 1990s and early 2000s, showing a young Ghost played by Spence Moore and a young Tommy played by Charlie Mann.
The new show is being called a lively and energetic look at a different era within the Power universe, suggesting it might be lighter in tone than previous Power series. Both Power: Origins and Power: Legacy will continue the story, each taking the franchise in its own direction.
