Attention: Potential Spoilers Ahead for Predator: Killer of Killers!
Co-director Dan Trachtenberg reveals that Amber Midthunder’s character from Prey, named Naru, makes an appearance in Predator: Killer of Killers. This animated Predator film presents three distinct stories over centuries where humans have encountered the Yautja on Earth. The narrative unfolds with Vikings in 841, Japanese samurai in the 1600s, and a World War II pilot in 1942, culminating in a gladiator-style battle involving all leads. In the climax, they join forces to escape, only for a shocking twist as Naru from Prey is found in a cryo pod at the end of the film.

Dan Trachtenberg explained, “Certainly, I’ll make it clear that it isn’t time travel. They aren’t traveling through time. The advantage of the cryo pod is that they are taken from their own era, frozen in stasis, and then released for amusement when chosen for an enjoyable evening’s event.
What Naru’s Cameo Means For Predator: Killer Of Killers & The Franchise’s Future
Her Status Has Completely Changed
In the movie “Predator: Killer of Killers,” Naru’s character appears because of how the movie “Prey” concludes. Trachtenberg’s earlier work in the series had Midthunder’s character successfully killing the Predator that was pursuing her, seemingly ensuring a happy ending for the Comanche tribe. However, the credits of “Prey” hinted that this wasn’t the end of her tale. A brief animated sequence showed the aliens returning to Earth, this time with more of them. The reason for their return, as revealed in “Predator: Killer of Killers,” was to capture someone who had managed to kill a Predator.
In my perspective, the animated film reveals that these extraterrestrial beings, known as the Yautja, make it a practice to abduct individuals who manage to best one of them in combat. As for the truth behind this, Trachtenberg’s remarks attest to the fact that the Yautja captured Naru following Prey and stored her in a cryogenic pod. This is evident in Killer of Killers, where she can be seen among multitudes of such pods, with Ursa now also included. At this point, Naru remains frozen on the Yautja’s home planet, awaiting the moment when they decide to awaken her according to their own schedule.
In the brief appearance of Naru in the movie “Predator: Killer of Killers”, there’s a hint that more could be on the horizon for this franchise. The revelation in the animated film may very well influence future installments, such as “Predator: Badlands”, set to release soon, or other projects under development like “Prey 2”. Furthermore, it’s possible that other characters from previous Predator films might also be found frozen in these cryo pods.
Our Take On Naru’s Predator: Killer Of Killers Cameo
Prey 2 Will Be Completely Different Than Expected
Incorporating Naru into the new Predator movie presents a significant cameo chance, second only to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch character being mentioned. This suggests that Trachtenberg might be planning to include Naru across different timelines for the franchise, potentially even in the future-set film “Predator: Badlands,” if she remains in stasis there. It’s an intriguing development indeed!
To put it simply, what we now know about Prey 2 suggests that it will take a different direction than previously anticipated. Instead of being set in the 1700s and featuring Naru’s battle with the Yautja upon their return, as many thought, it seems more likely that the sequel will continue Naru’s story after the events of Predator: Killer of Killers. If so, her struggle to escape from the Yautja arena would offer a drastically different narrative compared to what was expected for the sequel.
