Valve didn’t reveal the price of the new Steam Machine today, but engineer Yazan Aldehayyat explained they’re aiming for a competitive and affordable price that reflects the device’s value. This is a common approach for companies launching new products, and Valve is no different.
He told IGN that the Steam Machine will likely offer a similar level of performance and features to other PCs at a competitive price, making it a great value for the money.
Aldehayyat noted that cost is a major worry for people right now, especially with rising inflation and continuing concerns about tariffs.
Aldehayyat explained that keeping the Steam Machine affordable was a key consideration throughout the design process. He said the price point was a major reason they believed it would be successful, and they constantly focused on making it accessible to as many people as possible.
Valve didn’t offer many specifics, but that’s all the information they’re sharing right now. They plan to launch the system in Spring 2026, and pre-orders will likely be available before then.
Valve hasn’t revealed how much the new Steam Controller and Steam Frame VR headset will cost. For more details on these new devices, check out TopMob’s full report.
In addition to new hardware, Valve is also developing a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game called Deadlock. While testing has begun, there’s currently no information about when it will be released or what the game will fully entail.
