As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I couldn’t help but wonder before Benson Boone graced the stage of Saturday Night Live: is he going to astound us with another mid-air acrobatic feat? Known for his flamboyant jumpsuits and agile antics, Boone has left audiences spellbound with his gravity-defying flips at the Grammys and Coachella this year. So, would we witness him flip on SNL? If so, how many times?
Would there be a musical guest-centered sketch where he shares his gymnastics expertise with children? Or perhaps an unexpected twist, like a performance on aerial silks or some other daring acrobatics instead of the anticipated flip? The anticipation was palpable as we all waited to see if Boone would surprise us with another zag when we were expecting a zig.
As it turned out, Boone delivered precisely what we anticipated – nothing more, nothing less. He executed a single flip during his debut musical performance, causing Quinta Brunson to take a tumble, although she didn’t appear to be in any real danger. If we include the promotional stunts from earlier in the week, Boone managed two flips, while Sarah Sherman performed one. Regrettably, that was too much for her. The saying “Leave it to the pros” certainly rings true here.
