How Is SNL Celebrating Its Big Five-Oh?

As a dedicated SNL fan with over two decades of laughter under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for this upcoming season! Lorne Michaels has always had a knack for delivering unforgettable moments, and the 50th anniversary promises to be no exception.

As a long-time fan of Saturday Night Live (SNL), I am incredibly excited and nostalgic for the upcoming 50th season of this iconic television show. Having grown up watching SNL skits, I have fond memories of its hilarious humor and memorable characters that shaped pop culture over the past five decades. Lorne Michaels, the creator and executive producer of SNL, has teased a grand celebration for the 50th anniversary, promising to bring back talent from all 50 years.

Maya Rudolph is reportedly ready to serve …

… the country, by reviving her impersonation of Kamala Harris. On July 31, Deadline reported that the start of season three for Loot has been delayed, freeing up Rudolph to participate in the vice president’s meme-worthy portrayal on SNL during the final stages of the 2024 presidential election. Neither Rudolph nor SNL have officially acknowledged this news, but it seems almost certain. Passing up the chance to lampoon her again would be quite nutty.

We’re getting a three-hour special.

Back in May, I learned that NBC was planning a special primetime tribute to honor the anniversary of my favorite show, SNL. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this three-hour event will air on February 16th, from 8 to 11 PM ET, marking the climax of a celebratory weekend dedicated to this legendary comedy series. I can hardly wait!

No hosts have been announced yet.

In other words, it’s not too late to finally call Rashida Jones.
