Horde mode is a priority of Space Marine 2 devs, but it won’t hit the game in 7.0 update

Update (March 13)

The Space Marine 2 test server has been launched.

Update (March 11)

In this communication, we’re letting you know that we’ll be initiating a trial server on March 13th. This server will enable us to preview some aspects of the 7.0 update.

Original news (February 28)

In a recent community post dated February, the creators of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 have recapped the previous month’s activities and disclosed their future strategies for the game’s progression.

  1. At the beginning of the month, a massive 6.0 update was released. Some time later, hotfix 6.1 also launched.
  2. Patch 6.2 will be released next week and will fix the problem with spore mines, as well as introduce balance improvements.

Between February 21st and March 3rd, there’s an event offering the Mk VIII Errant helmet sans emblem, which some players noted triggers a sense of “miss out fear” (FOMO). However, the developers have clarified that all event items will eventually be available to everyone, using them merely to reward the most devoted segment of the community early on.

Update 7.0

Additionally, it was disclosed that new features are planned for the game with the 7.0 update (the release date is still undetermined). Mainly, we anticipate these key aspects to be introduced:

  1. package of chapters;
  2. characters package;
  3. private PvP lobby;
  4. new weapon, at the beginning available only in PvE mode;
  5. new operation;
  6. rebalance of weapon perks;
  7. revamp of classic weapons;
  8. PvE Prestige Ranks – when we reach the 25th class level, we will be able to unlock the prestige level, which will provide us with a special perk. Changing this perk won’t be possible until unlocking the 4th level of prestige, so the developers recommend making a wise choice.

Horde Mode and public test server

The original announcement likewise highlighted the Horde mode, a feature present in the initial release. However, this aspect is not yet included in the follow-up game at the moment. The developers have, nonetheless, confirmed their intention to focus on it, and they’ve emphasized that the new version will differ significantly from the one seen in Space Marine 1.

In addition, news emerged about a public test server set to go live within a few weeks prior to the 7.0 update. This early launch allows players an advance peek at upcoming features and gives them the opportunity to assist in fine-tuning them. It’s important to mention that this exclusive access will be granted only to Steam users.

The team behind the game has shared a questionnaire concerning the overall challenge level. If you’d like to voice your thoughts, feel free to complete it on the game’s official site.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, and XSX/S.
