In the upcoming patch 3.1 of Honkai: Star Rail, it appears that leaks have revealed Mydei’s gameplay kit, suggesting he could be an essential DPS (Damage Per Second) character. Mydei is one of the new characters set to debut in Version 3.1, following Amphoreus’ release in Version 3.0. The other character being introduced in this update, besides Mydei, is Tribbie, who was also previously teased but now has a more definite launch date. Both Mydei and Tribbie are new characters within the Amphoreus universe of Honkai: Star Rail.

As I eagerly watched the first glimpses of what was to come, there I was – Mydei, or as he’s formally known, Mydeimos. With golden locks cascading down my chiseled features, I stood adorned with red markings across my battle-hardened body. My gauntlets and pauldrons were a testament to my warrior status, but I chose to leave my torso bare, baring all for the fight ahead.

Intriguingly, beside me stood a fearsome red lion, fueling much speculation among gamers about whether it was a summon or part of my in-game abilities. However, recent updates have shed light on some aspects of my character, such as I won’t be a Remembrance character in Honkai: Star Rail, so the red lion figure won’t be a memosprite.

Mydei Is A Confirmed New Character In Honkai: Star Rail 3.1

The 5-Star Imaginary Character Follows The Path Of The Destruction

After the initial hint, various leaks surfaced, suggesting that Mydei is a 5-star Imaginary character on the Path of Destruction. This would make him the first such character since Dan Heng – Imbibitor Lunae was released. The developers at HoYoverse have confirmed that Mydei will indeed be a new character in Version 3.1. Details about Mydei’s design and his connection to Titan Nikador as the bearer of the Coreflame of Strife were further revealed in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), providing more insights into Honkai: Star Rail.

The post further fuels the speculation that Mydei is a highly-rated fictional figure on the Path of Destruction. Although HoYoverse has yet to provide official information, the trajectory of Mydei suggests that he might serve as a primary damage dealer, a role typically assumed by Destruction characters. What sets Destruction units apart from other DPS (Damage Per Second) categories is their ability to withstand harsh conditions, which implies that Mydei will likely demonstrate such resilience in Honkai: Star Rail, and his recent kit leak could be hinting at this.

Mydei’s Early Kit In Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 Has Leaked

The Character Is Said To Scale With HP

Despite the fact that details about Mydei’s gameplay kit are still under wraps, pending the commencement of Version 3.1 beta tests, there have been allegations of an early draft outlining his kit being leaked. According to reports from thorough testing and confirmed by a source named Shiroha, the leaked information suggests that Mydei’s gameplay kit has been exposed, offering additional understanding of his capabilities in Honkai: Star Rail. This leak was initially posted on Reddit with a warning label stating it as “Questionable.” As per the leak, Mydei is portrayed as a “HP-scaling powerhouse,” implying he significantly strengthens by increasing his HP.

According to the latest info, Mydei is predicted to function as both a Damage Per Second (DPS) character and a tank due to his exceptional Max HP stat. Remarkably, this stat could potentially reach 30,000, implying a dual role for Mydei in combat. This high HP stat is rumored to be boosted through Light Cones, Relics, Ornaments that are specifically designed to enhance HP. Additionally, the leaks hint at some glyphs connected to his gameplay mechanics, which seem to resemble Blade’s design from Honkai: Star Rail.

Shiroha hypothesizes that Mydei possesses a skillset to provoke adversaries, causing them to focus their attacks on him instead of the rest of his team. Additionally, there are hints that the mentioned symbols could represent an invincibility-to-death system and a resurrection ability for Mydei in Honkai: Star Rail. Although this concept is somewhat unusual within the game, it’s not entirely unreasonable given the character’s introduction by HoYoverse, where they mention that “Mydei must endure a thousand deaths” on his quest to acquire the Coreflame of Strife in Honkai: Star Rail. This idea aligns closely with Shiroha’s speculation.

If Mydei does possess a revival mechanism, he could potentially become a highly effective Damage Per Second (DPS) unit within team compositions. Unlike other Destruction characters who rely heavily on HP-draining mechanics, Mydei’s rumored ability to survive, recover, and even gain advantages from being downed might set him apart as a unique character. His supposed emphasis on HP echoes the similarities drawn between him and Blade, Fu Xuan in Honkai: Star Rail, suggesting that he may also incorporate an HP-draining system in his abilities. Additionally, speculation hints at the possibility of Mydei having some form of damage reduction or mitigation within his skill set.

Honkai: Star Rail Has Been In Dire Need Of A Character Like Mydei

No Other Character Should Tank Like Mydeimos

It appears that Mydei’s gear revelations are still preliminary, but he seems to be the character the game has lacked for a while. The most robust HP-oriented unit who functions as both DPS and has tank-like qualities is Blade. However, Blade has been overshadowed by subsequent releases in terms of power, making him less appealing in team compositions, even though other characters don’t focus on HP to the same extent as he does. Characters like Acheron and Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail have emerged as more viable options.

Beyond doubt, Blade’s structure doesn’t accommodate an extensive boost to his Health Points (HP). Although he boasts over 7,000 HP with a meticulously designed build, Blade falls far short of the reported 30,000 HP that Mydei is speculated to achieve. If Mydei actually reaches this figure, not only would he hold the highest HP reserve among game characters, making him an imposing tank in team compositions, but his damage output, which increases with his HP, could be unparalleled in Honkai: Star Rail.

Information on Mydei’s kit remains limited and somewhat questionable, so it should be approached with utmost care. Nevertheless, the details that have emerged suggest he could be an essential addition to team compositions. If the rumored stats and presumed abilities are accurate, Mydei might indeed become Honkai: Star Rail’s most powerful damage-dealing character yet, potentially filling a role that has been lacking since Blade’s unofficial retirement, bringing a much-needed fresh dynamic to the game.
