Today, IGN announced that “Hollow Knight: Silksong” will be playable in Melbourne, Australia starting in September. This isn’t a joke, but it certainly is amusing given the high cost of tickets to Melbourne these days. For those unfamiliar, “Hollow Knight: Silksong” is one of the most eagerly awaited games currently due to its scarcity of updates since its initial announcement in 2019. In recent years, it has made a brief appearance during nearly every video game showcase, but only for five seconds in the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct to confirm its release window in 2025.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable in a museum in September
On September 18th, Australia’s Melbourne-based national museum of Screen Culture, ACMI, will showcase a playable version of the highly anticipated game “Hollow Knight: Silksong.” Notably, Team Cherry, the developers behind both Hollow Knight and Silksong, are based in Adelaide, Australia. The co-curators of the museum, Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, expressed their excitement about this event, stating, “Ever since the initial announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games globally – and we are delighted to highlight the design of this South Australian-made game as a key attraction of Game Worlds in September.” While details about the playable portion of the game have yet to be clarified, it’s likely that only a demo will be available. The museum exhibition, titled Game Worlds, will also showcase other aspects of the game such as its design and sprites.
The main curiosity surrounding this news is if “Hollow Knight: Silksong” will finally become accessible to the public for play here. It’s plausible that a museum might be the first venue where people can experience “Silksong” after such extensive anticipation, although it’s also possible that fans may find this idea offensive. However, given the current hype, it could make an amusing meme. Conversely, “Silksong” could potentially be launched simultaneously or even earlier on another day.
It appears that there’s been a shift in Borderlands 4’s release date from September 23rd to September 12th, leading some people to speculate whether this move might hint at the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6. However, Gearbox clarified that the date change wasn’t related to GTA. Instead, it’s possible that Borderlands 4 was actually preparing the stage for Hollow Knight: Silksong all along. For now, we’re left in suspense about this eagerly awaited game.
