The much-awaited Metroidvania game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, developed by Team Cherry, is set for a playable demo on September 18th, but only if you are fortunate enough to visit Australia’s National Museum of Screen Culture.
According to IGN, the game “Hollow Knight: Silksong” will be available for play at a museum located in Melbourne as part of an exhibit called “Game Worlds”. Besides offering the opportunity to play the game, this exhibition will also showcase aspects related to its artwork and design decisions.
It’s not surprising that Hollow Knight: Silksong is being showcased in this museum exhibition since Team Cherry, its creators, are based in Adelaide, Australia. In an interview with IGN, the exhibit’s co-curators, Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, expressed their gratitude for Team Cherry entrusting them with their project.
Ever since the unveiling of Hollow Knight: Silksong back in 2019, it has been one of the most eagerly awaited indie games globally. We’re excited to highlight the creative design of this South Australian-born game as the focal point for Game Worlds in September.
It remains uncertain whether a significant portion of Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable during the exhibition, or if its presence at the museum hints at a potential September (or earlier) launch. Alterations to Hollow Knight: Silksong’s information on Steam and its temporary removal from the Nintendo eShop earlier this year have sparked speculation about an official release date, but it appears that Team Cherry is determined to keep fans guessing.
During a recent Nintendo Direct presentation last month, Hollow Knight: Silksong had a brief moment in the spotlight, with its release date set for 2025 on Nintendo’s upcoming console. However, Team Cherry clarified that the game will indeed be available for both versions of the Nintendo Switch. First unveiled in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong initially intended to launch on PC and Nintendo Switch, but it was later announced that it would also come out for Xbox (including Game Pass) as well as PlayStation 4 and 5.
