As an ardent admirer of Hollow Knight: Silksong, I can’t hide my anticipation, knowing that the recent changes in the game’s files on Steam have sparked fresh whispers about an upcoming launch.
Six and a half years have passed since the sequel to the widely praised 2017 metroidvania game, Hollow Knight, called Silksong, was first unveiled. At one time, it was anticipated that it would be released in early 2023; however, its release was ultimately postponed.
Ever since then, there’s been scant news regarding the release date of the sequel, leaving fans eagerly awaiting any tidbit of information. However, the game will be showcased at a museum exhibit later this year, stirring up speculation that it might be released within the next few months.
As Summer Game Fest approaches, there’s been another update for Silksong on Steam, leading many fans to speculate that a long-awaited release might be just around the corner.
Silksong fans think it could launch at Summer Game Fest
On June 3rd, data miner ‘Wario64’ disclosed that the back-end of the Steam page for the game Silksong underwent updates, marking the first change to one package in over 15 months.
It’s not the first occasion, but the scheduling of Summer Game Fest for June 6th has sparked excitement among fans, who believe that a new game might be announced or potentially released unexpectedly during the event.
“Gonna call it, shadow drop for both Steam and Switch 2,” said one excited fan.
“Manifesting that it will drop on Summer Game Fest,” posted another.
Tonight, the game Hollow Knight: Silksong on Steam saw some updates. Notably, one package had an update for the first time in 15 months.

It’s important to note that while there’s been no official confirmation that Hollow Knight: Silksong will debut during Summer Games Fest, if Team Cherry were to appear at the event and reveal the game, it would undoubtedly create a buzz among fans.
It’s unlikely, but there’s a strong chance we might see a fresh trailer and an official launch date revealed towards the end of this year.
