The principal actors for the debut episode of “Holes,” the television series based on the book, have been chosen by Disney+, as we’ve gathered.

In the project I’m referring to, which was first reported by EbMaster in January, I will be part of an exceptional cast. Among us are Greg Kinnear, known for his roles in “As Good as It Gets” and “Little Miss Sunshine”, Aidy Bryant from “Saturday Night Live” and “Shrill”, Shay Rudolph, who has been in “The Baby-Sitters Club” and “The Present”, Flor Delis Alicea of “Love the Skin You’re In”, Anire Kim Amoda from “The Penguin” and “The Snare”, Noah Cottrell, recognized for his work in “The Spiderwick Chronicles” and “Skyscraper”, Iesha Daniels and Sophie Dieterlen, who are making their television debuts. Also joining us are Alexandra Doke, familiar from “City on Fire” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, and Maeve Press, who has been seen in “Everything’s Gonna Be Okay” and “Theresa Is a Mother”.

Full character descriptions can be found below.

Unlike the novel “Holes,” the upcoming series will present a female lead character and predominantly female cast members, contrasting the storyline of the book which focuses on teenager Stanley Yelnats who is sent to a boy’s juvenile detention center in Texas.

The revamped TV series is described as follows: “In this modern take on Louis Sachar’s cherished 1998 novel, a young girl named Rudolph finds herself at a strict detention center. Here, under the harsh rule of Warden Kinnear, the inmates are compelled to dig holes for an unknown reason.

20th Television, which serves as the base for Drew Goddard, is producing the pilot. Alina Mankin is handling both writing and executive production, while Liz Phang takes on the roles of showrunner and executive producer. Jac Schaeffer will direct and also serve as an executive producer during this initial phase. Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg are involved in executive production through their company, Goddard Textiles, with Andrea Massaro from Goddard Textiles assisting as a co-executive producer. Walden Media, known for producing the 2003 film “Holes,” is also contributing to the pilot’s executive production, with Julia Friley supervising on behalf of the company. Mike Medavoy and Shamrock, the rights holder, will both executive produce this project.
