HLL 2025 roadmap and dev Q&A. We know what’s next for Hell Let Loose

As a devoted fan, I first encountered Hell Let Loose in its Early Access stage on Steam back in 2019, but its launch in 2021 was a bit rocky. Despite finding a dedicated player base, the game faced criticism for bugs, performance problems, and a steep learning curve that made it challenging for casual gamers like myself. However, through regular updates, refinements to gameplay, and the growth of an engaged community, the game has significantly improved over time. Now, Hell Let Loose boasts an impressive 84% positive reviews on Steam, and with Team17’s freshly unveiled roadmap, I’m excited to see where this game goes next!

What’s coming to Hell Let Loose in 2025

The developers of Hell Let Loose have unveiled their 2025 plan on Reddit, detailing the next four significant updates which include:

1. New maps and game modes to expand the battlefield experience.
2. Improved graphics for a more immersive gaming environment.
3. Enhanced AI for dynamic and challenging encounters.
4. Balance changes and optimizations for smoother gameplay.

  1. Two new maps – Tobruk and Eastern Front.
  2. A Stalingrad map refresh to finally fix those long-standing performance issues.
  3. New vehicles to shake up the battlefield.
  4. Fresh DLC cosmetics.

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that the brilliant minds behind the original HLL, Black Matter, passed on the rights to Team17 in 2022. To ensure the game’s continued growth, Team17 established Cover 6 Studios in 2023, solely focused on Hell Let Loose. This dedicated team has been tirelessly working to enhance the game, and it shows! In 2024, we’ve witnessed numerous feature upgrades, gameplay reworks, and quality-of-life improvements, keeping the game fresh and engaging. It’s truly a testament to Team17’s commitment to their projects and the community.

A few days following the reveal of their 2025 plan, the developers of “Hell Let Loose” conducted a live question and answer session, here are some key points:

  1. The new Eastern Front map will be set in summer 1943, with an early public test planned for community feedback.
  2. No Pacific Theater in 2025, but they might revisit the idea later.
  3. Danzig is still in the works, with a public test planned for the community.
  4. Juno Beach has a playable design in development.
  5. A new type of tank is being prototyped.
  6. The team is reworking the tank tier system, replacing it with individual stats for a more authentic experience.
  7. Soviet vehicles will finally get snow camo on winter maps.
  8. The medic role is getting some love, with potential stat changes, new abilities, and gameplay improvements.
  9. New DLCs will be tied to new maps.
  10. No plans for a map creator, but server owners might get new tools to create custom gameplay scenarios.
  11. The devs are looking into why Omaha Beach isn’t played much and are open to rebalancing it.
  12. They’re working to sync console updates with PC and get console players involved in public testing.
