Highlander’s Russell Crowe Shows His Incredible Transformation Photo for Reboot

Russell Crowe recently shared a detailed first look at his portrayal of a character in a highly anticipated movie remake, showing fans just how dedicated he is to the part.

Russell Crowe shows off stunning transformation for Highlander reboot

Henry Cavill isn’t the only big name joining the new “Highlander” movie! Russell Crowe will play Ramirez in the reboot and recently shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) showing off his training. The post, with the classic line “There can be only one…”, quickly went viral, racking up over a million views. The photo reveals Crowe has gotten noticeably fit for the action-packed remake.

Chad Stahelski is directing a new Highlander movie, written by Ryan J. Condal, who also created House of the Dragon. Amazon MGM Studios is producing the film and recently showed a sneak peek at CinemaCon. Henry Cavill gave fans their first look behind the scenes with photos he shared on Instagram earlier this year.

Collider was the first to report that Russell Crowe will play Ramirez, the character originally made famous by Sean Connery in the 1986 film.

Henry Cavill and Russell Crowe are joined by a talented cast including Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Jeremy Irons, Djimon Hounsou, and Marisa Abela. Bautista is known for his work in “The Wrecking Crew,” and Gillan is famous for her role in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. Irons previously appeared in “Batman vs. Superman,” and Hounsou received praise for his performance in “Blood Diamond.” Completing the group is Abela, who recently gained recognition for her role in the series “Industry.”

Okay, so the classic Highlander from ’86, with Christopher Lambert, was awesome – a Scottish immortal battling it out with the last of his kind. Now, Amazon MGM is doing a reboot, but they’re keeping details pretty tight-lipped. No official plot summary yet, and no firm release date either. But, from what I’m hearing around the industry, we’re probably looking at a late 2027 premiere. Neal H. Moritz is producing, and Michael Finch, Kerry Williamson, and Condal are all working on the script, which sounds promising!
