Hideo Kojima, the famous game creator, has a habit of hiding little appearances of himself within his games. Fans can spot his photo in the original Metal Gear Solid, recruit him as a soldier in Peace Walker, and even see him as a hologram or peeking at the player character while they bathe in the Death Stranding series. But now, he’s trying something new: he’s voicing an animal character in the upcoming movie Zootopia 2.
Hideo Kojima voices a character in Japanese Zootopia 2
I was so excited when the sequel to Zootopia was announced! The first movie, which came out in 2016, is still amazing – it has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is incredible. And from what I’ve seen, the new one looks like it’s going to be just as good! It’s awesome that Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman are back as our favorite detective duo. Plus, Ke Huy Quan, who I loved in Everything Everywhere All at Once, is voicing Gary the snake – he’s perfect for the role! The movie is packed with other big names too, bringing all the animal characters to life.
Hideo Kojima, the video game creator, provides the voice for Paul Moldebrandt in the Japanese dub of the film. Moldebrandt is a mole who works as the IT specialist for the Zootopia Police Department, managing their technology and computers.
Paul Moldebrandt doesn’t have a large role in the movie, but there’s a scene where he gets noticeably angry. It would be hilarious to hear Hideo Kojima, who is usually so calm and upbeat, really cut loose and yell. Hopefully, this isn’t the last time he does voice work for an animated film.
