Hi-Fi Rush Devs Have Been Rescued. They Were Brought by the Publisher of PUBG

As a long-time fan of Tango Gameworks and their exceptional work, particularly Hi-Fi Rush, I can’t help but feel a surge of relief and anticipation at the news of Krafton’s acquisition. The thought of losing such a talented team behind a masterpiece like Hi-Fi Rush was almost unbearable. It’s akin to discovering your favorite band is breaking up, only to find out they’re reuniting for one more epic tour.

The creators of the well-liked Hi-Fi Rush will have another opportunity, this time due to the publisher of PUBG. Krafton has disclosed that they have purchased the Tango Gameworks studio, thereby obtaining the rights to the mentioned title. It was also made clear that this acquisition won’t interfere with the developer’s current collection of games.

The same thing was said by a Microsoft representative in a statement for Windows Central.

Working in collaboration with Krafton, we’re helping Tango Gameworks to keep creating games as a team, and we’re eagerly anticipating their next amazing title. Rest assured, there won’t be any changes affecting the current library of Tango games.

It’s important to note that the Japanese team wasn’t the only studio to shut down last year. However, the closing of a studio that produced the critically acclaimed game “Hi-Fi Rush” has left many people puzzled. Unlike terminating a developer with no released games or one whose latest project flopped, the closure of a studio known for a well-received title like “Hi-Fi Rush” raises some questions. Even though it seemed that the game’s popularity outside of Game Pass may have supported Microsoft’s decision.

Krafton’s definitive intentions regarding the acquisition of Tango Gameworks haven’t been explicitly stated yet. The press release simply suggests that Krafton aims to help Tango Gameworks carry on their tradition of innovation and providing unique, engaging gaming experiences for fans. Previously, according to Jason Schreier in May, there were discussions about a potential sequel to Hi-Fi Rush, but the studio eventually shut down instead.
