Hey Nerds, Leave James Cameron’s Remastered Image Quality Alone

As a long-time admirer of James Cameron’s unapologetic approach to filmmaking, I find myself standing shoulder to shoulder with the man in his tireless pursuit for cinematic excellence. His blunt and refreshingly honest response to the nitpicking “mom’s basement dwellers” who criticize the quality of his remasters is a testament to his dedication and passion for his work. It’s as if he’s saying, “If you’re going to spend your days analyzing grain structure instead of experiencing life, perhaps you should take a cue from Neomorphs and burrow back into the Earth!”

James Cameron and Alex Trebek appear to have been raised with similar values regarding criticism. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron showed no concern for the opinions of those criticizing the remastered quality of Aliens and True Lies. When questioned about people who thought the image quality should be superior, Cameron advised them to spend more time outdoors or interact with others. He expressed his frustration by saying, “When people start critiquing my grain structure, they need to get a life and meet someone. Seriously. Are you kidding me?” Before praising his dedicated crew, he added, “I’ve got an excellent team that handles the transfers. I oversee all the color and density work. I scrutinize every shot, every frame, and then the final transfer is done by a long-time collaborator. All the Avatar films are processed in this manner. Everything is done this way. Get a life, people, seriously.” For those concerned about the color grading for Avatar: Fire and Ash or still recovering from that burn, Cameron offers some reassurance, albeit vaguely: “It’s really impressive. You’re going to adore it.”
