Heroes of Azeroth should Join The War Within Beta Launch Test

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into World of Warcraft under my belt, I can’t help but feel a thrill at the prospect of joining The War Within’s beta launch test. Having survived server downtimes during expansions past, I’m eager to lend a hand and help Blizzard simulate a smooth expansion launch for all of Azeroth’s heroes on 15 August 2024.

Hey there, champions of Azeroth! It’s time to answer the call! We strongly recommend you sign up for The War Within’s beta test. By doing so, you can assist Blizzard in simulating the full rollout of the expansion and hopefully minimize the frustrating server outages on August 22 (Early Access) or August 26 (official release).

The developers have shared that they will be conducting a one-day, limited-hour beta test for The War Within, which is set to run only for a short duration.

The exam is scheduled for August 15, 2024 at 1:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time (which is 4:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time and 22:30 Central European Summer Time). If all goes smoothly, Blizzard plans to conclude the test a few hours later around 3:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time (6:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time, 00:30 Central European Summer Time), after which they intend to restore other testing environments.

At 13:30 Pacific Daylight Time, you’ll find that only the “Launch Test” realm is accessible from the PTR (Public Test Realm) list. To participate, players should log in and either transfer their current characters or opt for a fresh level 70 character model using a template. Afterward, teleport to Dalaran should be the next step.

At 2:00 PM Pacific Time, we will simulate a complete launch, and every tester will get a task to initiate the expansion’s introduction simultaneously. Once they accept the task, testers will proceed to play through the expansion’s introductory sequence, starting in the Isle of Dorn.

Follow the quick steps below if you’ve never participated in a WoW PTR before.

  • Click the Create Account button.
  • Open the Blizzard Battle.net App and select World of Warcraft from your Games list.
  • In the selector above the Play button, change your Region / Account to Public Test Realm.

  • Click Play to log in to the PTR, and select any of the available Test Servers.

In this case, the special realm you are looking for is “Launch Test.”

As a fellow enthusiast, I want to share that to join the World of Warcraft test, you’ll require an active subscription. However, there seems to be no explicit requirement from the developers yet about having to own the expansion prior to participating in the test.
