Here's Who Could Reportedly Play Lara Croft In The Tomb Raider TV Series

As a die-hard fan of the Tomb Raider series, I must admit that I am beyond excited about the upcoming TV show! The fact that Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the brilliant mind behind Fleabag and Killing Eve, is at the helm is already enough to make my heart race.

A Television adaptation of Tomb Raider is under development, penned by Emmy-winning author Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and there are now two potential candidates emerging for the main character, Lara Croft’s role.

According to Deadline, Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones and Lucy Boynton who starred in Bohemian Rhapsody are being strongly considered for a role. The website stated that neither actress has auditioned as of yet, but they are on the list of potential candidates being seriously looked at for the part.

Angelina Jolie, an Oscar winner, has taken on the role of Lara Croft in several Tomb Raider films throughout the years. However, it was Alicia Vikander, another Academy Award-winner, who stepped into the shoes of Lara Croft for the 2018 version of Tomb Raider.

The audition procedure for the upcoming Tomb Raider series has been enveloped in mystery, according to Deadline, who also hinted that the hunt for Lara Croft could turn out to be one of the most anticipated TV casting missions this fall. Moreover, it was mentioned on the site that Emma Corrin from Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as Mackenzie Davis from Station Eleven, are being considered but are not rumored to be participating in the audition process for the role.

As a devoted fan, I suspect that apart from the one named in the report, there might be additional contenders being weighed for this coveted role.

Amazon’s Prime Video is developing a Tomb Raider TV show, and interestingly enough, Amazon itself is set to publish the upcoming Tomb Raider video game developed by Crystal Dynamics. However, it’s important to note that this new game isn’t linked to the TV series.

Waller-Bridge is best known for creating the TV series Fleabag and writing and producing the show Killing Eve. She played Helena in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and was brought on to help improve the script for the James Bond movie No Time to Die.

In a previous statement, Waller-Bridge expressed her excitement about the potential to draw upon various elements from her past experiences with Indiana Jones and James Bond, characters that served as inspiration for Lara Croft. Essentially, she feels it’s a fitting culmination of her own journey exploring this genre, as if she were embarking on the last leg of an adventure within these iconic franchise worlds.

2018’s Tomb Raider movie brought in an impressive $275 million globally and stands as one of the most successful video game adaptations ever. I was all set to reprise my role for a sequel, but things got a bit complicated when Amazon took over MGM.
