Henry Golding Says ‘A Simple Favor 2’ Is ‘Much More Bananas,’ Explains Cutting Off His Hair After ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ Season 2 Wrap

As a devoted fan of Henry Golding and his impressive acting career, I was thrilled to read about his recent transformation at the Giorgio Armani Mare collection pop-up in Malibu. The sight of him looking dapper in a linen ensemble with his new summery buzz cut left me feeling excited for what’s next for this talented actor.

Henry Golding stood out in a stylish linen outfit at the launch event for Giorgio Armani’s Mare collection pop-up at Little Beach House Malibu on Tuesday. However, he sported an unusual appearance.

The actor was sporting a new summery buzz cut.

He shared with me that for the past six months, he was in Munich working alongside Nicole Kidman on the second season of “Nine Perfect Strangers.” However, he grew weary of his large bouffant hairstyle.

Then he smiled, “I’m told buzzed is very in right now.”

Nicole Kidman is back as the unconventional wellness expert Masha for Hulu’s second installment. She’s joined by a new lineup of actors: Golding, Murray Bartlett, Christine Baranski, Mark Strong, Lena Olin, Annie Murphy, Lucas Englander, King Princess, Dolly de Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Aras Aydin.)

Nicole Kidman’s well-discussed accent returns in the film. Golding mentioned that Kidman often maintained the accent even when not shooting scenes: “She isn’t strictly Method acting in that way, but it seems challenging for her to constantly switch between the accent.”

Another project in the works for Golding is “A Simple Favor 2.” In this upcoming film, he once again stars as Anna Kendrick’s lover and former husband, with Paul Feig continuing as the director. The sequel was filmed in Italy.

As a movie buff, I’d put it this way: “I can’t believe it! The script is insanely different from what we had before. It’s not just Blake’s role that’s gone off the rails; the whole production seems to have taken on a life of its own and escalated beyond anything I could have imagined.”

The film is now being worked on in post-production. “Paul is presently editing it,” Golding explained. “From time to time, he’ll text me and exclaim, ‘This scene is really exciting!'”

Golding maintained that he hadn’t anticipated a second film during the production of the first. “Many believed it would be a solitary success,” he remarked. “Yet, the audience adored it, and the excitement was palpable. It turned out to be an unexpected delight.”

Feig shared with me in May that they discarded the initial script for the sequel. “We abandoned the original version intended for production,” he recalled. “Despite our fondness for it, we felt that the dedicated fans of the first film might not fully embrace it. We’ve been invested in its development for nearly three years now.”

The production for “A Simple Favor 2” came to an end in May. Joining the cast are Tony Award-winner Alex Newell and Oscar-winning actress Allison Janney, who has worked with Feig multiple times before.
