Henry Cavill’s action movie is gaining popularity again on streaming services, offering a chance for it to find a wider audience.
Henry Cavill is a British actor who first became famous for playing Superman in the DC Extended Universe, beginning with Man of Steel (2013) and continuing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). He also starred as Geralt of Rivia in the first three seasons of the Netflix series The Witcher (2019–2023). Beyond these roles, Cavill has appeared in films like the Enola Holmes movies (2020–present), as well as action and spy films including The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), and Argylle (2024). Recently, one of his earlier action thrillers is receiving new attention.
After a slow start, the 2018 action thriller Night Hunter (originally called Nomis) is now gaining recognition thanks to streaming. Directed and written by David Raymond, the film features Henry Cavill as a detective investigating a series of kidnappings and murders, leading him to an encounter with a relentless vigilante.
As of today, April 21st, the movie Night Hunter, released in theaters in 2018, is currently the second most popular film on Starz. It’s behind The Housemaid at number one, and followed by Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Marshall, Turbulence, Gemini Man, The Man in the White Van, Superfly, The Girl on the Train, and The Informer which is number ten.
Alongside Henry Cavill as the main character, the film Night Hunter features a remarkable cast including Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (known for Gandhi), Emmy nominee Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus season 1), and Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones). The cast also includes Brendan Fletcher, Minka Kelly, Nathan Fillion, Mpho Koaho, Emma Tremblay, Eliana Jones, Daniela Lavender, Beverly Noukwu, Dylan Penn, and Carlyn Burchell.
Critics strongly disliked Night Hunter, giving it a low 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and describing it as predictable and full of tired tropes. They felt it wasted the talents of its actors on an action-thriller that didn’t quite work. Viewers, however, were more divided, with an audience score of 50%.
Despite a disappointing $1 million box office run, the Henry Cavill film has found consistent success on streaming platforms. It reached the Top 10 worldwide on Paramount+ in September 2025, hitting No. 3, and returned to that same position the following November. Now, the movie, titled Night Hunter, is continuing to perform well on Starz.
