I have to say, Finn Wolfhard’s horror film is really making a splash on streaming right now, and honestly, it’s perfectly timed. It’s great to see him ending his run on Stranger Things – a show that truly defined a generation – with such a strong project. And it sounds like he’s not slowing down anytime soon, which is fantastic. He’s clearly poised for some big things!
I’m really excited to see this actor taking on a remake of Idle Hands! But that’s not all – he’s also going to be in Crash Land with Gabriel LaBelle. From what I’ve heard, it’s a hilarious coming-of-age story about a group of guys in a small town who love doing *Jackassstyle stunts. And, interestingly, his recent slasher film that didn’t get a huge buzz at first is starting to gain traction and people are really discovering it now, which is awesome – it looks like it’ll be big by the end of 2025!
The movie Hell of a Summer is currently very popular on HBO Max, appearing in the Top 10 charts worldwide. Since December 27th, it has consistently remained in the Top 5 and even reached the #1 spot in several countries, like Brazil. It’s also the #2 most-watched film in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, and Venezuela.
You can watch Hell of a Summer on Hulu or for free with Kanopy. It’s also available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray, and through digital stores.
In Hell of a Summer, Jason Hochberg (played by Fred Hechinger, known from season 1 of The White Lotus) starts a job as a camp counselor at Camp Pineway. He initially worries about fitting in with the teenage staff, but soon discovers a much bigger problem: a masked killer is stalking the camp and systematically eliminating the counselors.
The film also features Abby Quinn, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Bryk, Finn Wolfhard, Pardis Saremi, Rosebud Baker, and Adam Pally. Neon acquired the movie, and it earned $3 million in theaters, which is about the same as its production cost. While reviews were mixed, it’s performing well on streaming services, as many expected.
Finn Wolfhard is at a pivotal moment in his career as Stranger Things concludes. His name and face being featured prominently in advertising could attract viewers who didn’t see Hell of a Summer when it was first released in November. This is especially true because the film didn’t get a wide international release initially, but a broader rollout will help it gain more attention on streaming platforms.
