The town of Hell, Michigan is currently for sale, and the good news is it’s priced under $666,000.
Ever heard of Hell, Michigan? It’s a real town located just west of Detroit, and surprisingly, it’s currently for sale – not a spiritual destination, but an actual place you can buy!
This small town isn’t officially governed, but it’s a big draw for tourists. It’s full of quirky shops and fun things to do, all playing on its funny name.
With attractions like the ‘Creamatory’ ice cream shop, Damnation University, and a scattering garden for ashes, the town of Hell, Michigan is fully embracing its name—and now the entire town is for sale.

Hell, Michigan up for sale for the second time
The entire town is for sale for $625,000. This includes 3.5 acres of developed land and all the businesses currently operating there, such as the ‘Souvenirs from Hell’ gift shop and ‘Hell’s Chapel of Love’.
John Colone, a Vietnam War veteran, is selling the town he built into the popular tourist destination it is now.
He began working on this project in 1998. Now, after 28 years, he’s ready to retire and pass it on to a new owner.
“You know, I’m 80 years old, and I just wanted some John Time,” he told local news outlets.

The town of Hell, Michigan, actually has a history stretching back much further than its current owner. It was originally settled in 1838 by George Reeves, who established a general store and a mill alongside the creek now called ‘Hell Creek.’
George often traded his homemade whiskey to local farmers in exchange for their grain. This habit earned him the exasperated comments from their wives, who would say he was ‘at it again’ and destined for trouble.
The town was founded on October 31, 1841. Since taking ownership 28 years ago, its current owner has tried to sell it twice. He first listed it in 2015 for $999,666, and now, after a significant price reduction of about a third, he’s still looking for a buyer.
