‘Heels,’ Former Starz Series, Sets Netflix Premiere Date

As a devoted fan who’ve been hooked since the premiere of “Heels” on Starz, I can’t contain my excitement! The news that both seasons will be available on Netflix from September 15th is like a body slam right into the heart of wrestling enthusiasts everywhere.

“Heels” has set its Netflix launch date.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that the Starz show, which ended after two seasons back in September 2023, is set to appear on Netflix starting from September 15th this year. Both seasons of the series will simultaneously become accessible on that date. Back in April, it was already announced that Netflix had obtained the rights for the series. The series titled “Heels” originally aired its first season on Starz in 2021, with the second season premiering in 2023.

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news for fans like me who’ve been hooked on the show revolving around the Duffy Wrestling League, a modest independent wrestling promotion based in Georgia. As a fan, I can tell you that Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) is now shouldering the legacy his father left behind, striving to maintain the league while simultaneously aiming to elevate it further.

Besides Kevin Bacon, the show featured actors like Alexander Ludwig, Chris Bauer, Mary McCormack, Kelli Berglund, Allen Maldonado, Trey Tucker, Robby Ramos, Alice Barrett Mitchell, Roxton Garcia, David James Elliott, Joel Murray, and CM Punk. Mike O’Malley, who was also the showrunner, played the character of Charlie Gully, a competitor in the series.

Michael Waldron spearheaded the production of this series, also taking on the role of its executive producer. Alongside him, Kevin O’Malley, Christopher Donnelly, Pete Segal, Patrick Walmsley, and Julie Yorn all served as executive producers. Lionsgate Television was responsible for its production.

In my humble opinion as a movie enthusiast, if the captivating series “Heels” manages to garner a substantial viewership on Netflix, there’s a chance it could negotiate a third season with Lionsgate. However, let me clarify that this would be no small feat given the busy schedules of the talented cast members. For instance, Amell, who plays a pivotal role in our beloved wrestling drama, is set to star in the upcoming NBC show “Suits: LA,” which was officially greenlit in July.

“The show ‘Heels’ will be available on Netflix before its premiere on WWE’s ‘Monday Night Raw’, which is scheduled for January 2025 on the streaming platform. This deal is worth a staggering $5 billion over a period of 10 years, equivalent to $500 million annually. Interestingly, Netflix has the flexibility to withdraw after the first five years and potentially renew for another decade.”
