The timing for Heated Rivalry season 2 gets a new update after some big news for the show’s creator.
Jacob Tierney, the showrunner for Heated Rivalry, recently shared an update on season 2 at the GLAAD Media Awards. This came after Netflix announced his new series, Alexander. Tierney stated he’s currently writing full-time and that season 2 of the hockey romance drama is still progressing as planned.
Filming is scheduled to begin this summer, so casting for the show will start soon. Tierney also shared that he’s trying not to feel pressured to repeat the success of season one. He explained that he wants to recapture his initial enthusiasm for the source material and focus on creating the best adaptation possible, saying, “I realized I need to go back to how I felt when I first started writing – I just loved these books and want to make something really smart out of them.”
Season 2 of Heated Rivalry will be based on The Long Game, a book from Rachel Reid’s series. Actor Troy Barrett will also be joining the cast, as previously announced.
Since it first came out, Heated Rivalry has quickly become very popular. The Crave Original currently has a 96% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers give it an 88% score. Like the first season, the new season will have six episodes.
Season 2 of Heated Rivalry is planned to launch in April 2027. It will be available on Crave in Canada and on HBO Max everywhere else in the world.
