Over time, the close-knit group of friends they know and love experiences significant changes in their lives. For instance, Nick (Kit Connor) embarks on his academic journey at university, while Charlie’s (Joe Locke) personal life undergoes transformations, including emotional revelations and sexual exploration.
In contrast to what a cliffhanger might imply, Season 3 didn’t end abruptly. Instead, Nick returned from a university tour right as Charlie was performing with his band at a neighborhood fair. Their love for each other seemed stronger than ever.

Rather than having Heartstopper continue as a fourth season, the story created by Alice Oseman will come to an end with a movie on Netflix. However, the release date for this film is yet to be announced.
On a thrilling note, I’m excited to share some personal news from my favorite streaming service – they’ve confirmed that Heartstopper is making a comeback, and this time it’ll be even grander! They’ve hinted at a Heartstopper movie, which will serve as our final chapter, based on Alice Oseman’s upcoming volume six. Can’t wait to see how this epic story unfolds!
It seems that we won’t be able to watch this movie anytime soon because Volume 6 hasn’t been released yet as planned, and there are whispers suggesting a possible release of the graphic novel in December 2025 instead of at the end of 2024.
Filming won’t start until we have the book, except if Oseman is juggling both tasks at the same time. Initial indications point towards a potential commencement of filming as soon as this summer, with Locke and Connor serving as executive producers.
Even though it may seem different due to their age, there could be delays this time, yet these delays might bring about some advantages.
Because Heartstopper is producing a movie instead of a complete TV series, it’s possible that some previous cast members, including Olivia Colman, could reappear. Colman couldn’t be part of Season 3 due to filming obligations, but the smaller scale of this production might allow for her return.
