Heart’s Worst Love Interest

As a gaming enthusiast diving into the world of romantic movies, I’ve just discovered that the first installment of Hearts Around the Table series, Jenna’s First Love, is now available for streaming. However, it seems that Hallmark may have stumbled upon a love interest character that could potentially be their most questionable yet. But hey, let’s see if it’s actually who we suspect!

In contrast to the regular weekly Hallmark releases, the Spring Into Love series presents a unique quartet of stories instead of one. The Hearts Around the Table series offers four distinct narratives: Jenna’s First Love, Shari’s Second Act, Josh’s Third Serving, and Kiki’s Fourth Ingredient, each providing its own captivating tale. Hopefully, this clarifies the concept for you!

The series continues to air weekly, and Jenna’s First Love can now be streamed on Hallmark. Known for her innovative marketing strategies, Jenna is a woman of great stature. However, when she finds herself collaborating with her former boyfriend Andrew on a new project, the atmosphere becomes tense swiftly.

Initially, Andrew may appear to be a complete brute, but in reality, it’s not him who emerges as the most unsavory character. In fact, he turns out to be quite admirable compared to the other love interest introduced in Hearts Around the Table: Jenna’s First Love.

Tom is the true villain of Hearts Around the Table: Jennaโ€™s First Love

As Andrew strives to reconcile and grow closer to Jenna, their boss, Tom, unexpectedly escalates a romantic pursuit, which leaves everyone feeling uncomfortable.

Let’s go back. Originally, Jenna was to collaborate with Tom in hosting a charity event for a non-profit that his company has recently supported. However, Tom assigns Andrew as a consultant instead, which rekindles their relationship since they were each other’s first loves in high school. It turns out their past didn’t have the most harmonious conclusion.

Tom is invited to listen to everyone’s suggestions, and he finds Jenna’s unique perspective appealing, despite Andrew earlier dismissing it. He becomes quite fond of her, and begins taking actions that clearly breach any HR guidelines.

In the meantime, Andrew yearns from afar, while wealthy Tom swiftly sets into motion arranging a private jet to transport Jenna to his personal vineyard (not a metaphor). Once there, it’s evident that Tom’s motives are far from professional, despite Jenna believing his claim of “a business meeting.” To add fuel to the fire, Andrew video-calls Tom during the process, creating an uncomfortable situation for everyone involved.

It’s evident that when Tom requests another meeting with Jenna, he’s disguising it as work-related matters to take her out on a date instead. Jenna senses this deception and becomes uneasy as Tom asks her to dance. Fortunately, she manages to get out of the situation unharmed, but everything feels shady and questionable.

It’s clear that Jenna and Andrew become a couple, yet Tom’s misconduct goes unchecked. From the start, when Tom interacts with Jenna, her friends are supportive. He appears thoughtful, intelligent, and wealthy beyond measure. Everyone dislikes Andrew, so why wouldn’t Jenna aim for someone like Tom?

When Tom discovers Jenna and Andrew’s history, he doesn’t show any signs of slowing down or considering their feelings. Not only is such behavior unprofessional for a boss to inflict on an employee, but it also goes against the principles of camaraderie, whether we call it bro code or girl code.

Typically, characters who play antagonists in Hallmark romantic stories undergo a transformation and become better individuals. But Tom’s character lacks any development whatsoever, which makes him one of the least likable leading men in Hallmark history.
