Hearst Television Promotes Kyle Grimes to Executive Vice President

Hearst Television has promoted TV station exec Kyle Grimes to executive vice president.

From 2023 onwards, Grimes holds dual roles at WCVB-TV, which is Hearst Television’s main station in Boston. This includes serving as both its president and general manager. Additionally, Grimes serves as a regional vice president for Hearst Television overseeing all their stations across New England.

In his latest position, Grimes will still be supervised by Michael J. Hayes, who is the president of Hearst Television. He’s going to relocate from Boston to the main office in New York, which will increase his management responsibilities over a wider range of television stations.

Hearst is planning to reveal who will replace Grimes as the president and general manager of WCVB within a few days.

Currently, Grimes is managing a group of television stations that includes WCVB in Boston (ABC affiliate), WMTW-TV and WPXT-TV in Portland-Auburn, Maine (ABC and CW affiliates), WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire (ABC affiliate), and WPTZ-TV and WNNE-TV in the Plattsburgh, New York and Burlington, Vermont market (NBC and CW affiliates). After this role change, Grimes will continue to oversee these stations, along with a further collection of Hearst television stations.

Before joining WCVB in 2020, Grimes held the positions of president and general manager at Hearst’s WGAL-TV. His professional journey started with Hearst’s television stations in California, initially working at KSBW-TV, and later moving to KCRA-TV/KQCA-TV.

Kyle has shown outstanding performance as he handles the leadership at WCVB while managing the robust brands within our New England region,” said Michael J. Hayes, president of Hearst Television. “He’s an executive who has spent his entire career with Hearst Television and possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience from various markets, which will be beneficial in his upcoming role.
