The lead actor from a popular Netflix thriller is now joining the cast of HBO’s The Comeback. The show lives up to its name, having returned after being cancelled in 2005 and taking a nine-year break. A second season aired in 2014, and details are emerging about who will be involved in the upcoming third season.
Okay, big news for fans of The Comeback! I just heard from HBO’s presentation in London that Andrew Scott is joining Lisa Kudrow for Season 3. He’s going to be playing the head of a studio, which I think is perfect casting – he’s got that subtly intimidating energy. HBO’s Casey Bloys made the announcement, and they also hinted at some other new faces joining the cast. I’m already excited to see how this shakes things up!
In the TV series The Comeback, Lisa Kudrow stars as Valerie Cherish. The third season will bring back familiar faces like Dan Bucatinsky as Valerie’s publicist, Laura Silverman as reality show producer Jane, and Damian Young as Valerie’s husband, Mark.
I’m so thrilled to hear about Season 3 of The Comeback! Michael Patrick King, Lisa Kudrow, and Casey Bloys have shared that the new season will center around Valerie finally landing a role – she’s been cast in her first ever sitcom! It’s amazing to think about where her career will go from here, and I can’t wait to see what hilarious situations she gets into.
Andrew Scott Stars in Netflix’s Psychological Thriller, Ripley
Andrew Scott leads the cast of Ripley, an eight-episode miniseries created by Steven Zaillian and based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley. The show earned 14 nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards, including acting nods for Scott and Dakota Fanning.
In the film, Scott plays Tom Ripley, a con artist hired by a rich man to find his wayward son in Italy and bring him back. Marge Sherwood is played by Fanning, and Johnny Flynn stars as Dickie Greenleaf, completing the main cast.
Though he was only on Ripley for one season, Scott is also well-known for playing the hot priest in the 2019 series Fleabag, and he made a brief appearance in Lena Dunham’s Too Much.
HBO Reveals First Look at Lisa Kudrow in The Comeback Season 3
HBO also shared a first glimpse of Season 3 of The Comeback. The image shows Lisa Kudrow, playing fading sitcom actress Valerie Cherish, standing in a doorway. The show follows Valerie as she attempts a TV comeback, all while being filmed for a reality series. Season 2 included appearances by Andy Cohen, a producer of Real Housewives, whom Valerie tried to connect with.
Okay, so details are still pretty scarce about Season 3, but let me tell you, the cast is getting stacked. We’re talking about some seriously talented additions like Tim Bagley, Matt Cook, Jack O’Brien, Ella Stiller, John Early, Barry Shabaka Henley, and the always fantastic Abbi Jacobson. Tony Macht, Brittany O’Grady, Zane Phillips, and Julian Stern are also joining the mix – it’s shaping up to be a really interesting season, and I’m excited to see what they all bring to the table.
The Comeback is scheduled to release in March 2026 on HBO.
