Haunted Chocolatier is the upcoming game from the creator of the popular indie hit, Stardew Valley. While details are still scarce, we know you’ll play as someone who moves to a new town and runs a chocolate shop. The developer says it will feel similar to Stardew Valley in some ways, but will focus more on action and RPG-style gameplay.

When will Haunted Chocolatier be released?
Currently, there’s no release date for Haunted Chocolatier. ConcernedApe, the game’s creator, plans to wait until he’s certain about the release before announcing one. The game was first revealed with a trailer in October 2021, almost four years ago. In a recent post about the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.7 update, ConcernedApe mentioned he’s still focused on Haunted Chocolatier and hinted it might even come out before Stardew Valley 1.7, though he isn’t making any promises.

So far, the only real look at Haunted Chocolatier is the initial announcement trailer and a few videos showcasing the game’s music. These don’t show much gameplay beyond a quick glimpse of a snowy town with a bakery and your chocolate shop. The trailer does reveal that you’ll be able to enter a portal from your shop, which leads to combat areas where you’ll fight enemies. This same portal is also how you collect ingredients to make chocolates back at the shop, which you can then sell to customers.
After setting up your shop, you’ll see customizable shelves to display your products and decorations. This is also where the game’s spooky theme comes to life, as ghosts help you run the chocolate store! The trailer ends with a glimpse of interactions with townspeople, including giving gifts, suggesting a relationship-building system similar to the one in Stardew Valley.
Haunted Chocolatier platforms
Haunted Chocolatier is currently planned for PC, but the creator, ConcernedApe, says he hopes to release it on other popular platforms as well. His previous game, Stardew Valley, started on PC but eventually became available on almost every gaming system, including consoles and phones.
Haunted Chocolatier Story, Setting, and Characters

ConcernedApe is taking a careful approach to developing Haunted Chocolatier, so he hasn’t shared many details about the game yet. However, we do know the core idea: you’ll play as someone running a chocolate shop, and you’ll get a little help from some ghostly assistants.
The announcement trailer introduces a couple of characters, including Burk, a blacksmith, and Maddie. While the town’s name and the reason you inherit the chocolate factory remain a mystery, a quick chat about the city hints that your character might share a similar past to the farmer from Stardew Valley.
Haunted Chocolatier Gameplay

The core of the game involves collecting ingredients, crafting chocolate, and then selling it. This was the primary gameplay feature shown in the initial announcement. The developer also hinted that the game will include elements similar to Stardew Valley, such as building relationships with characters and potentially even romance options. Although specific details are still limited, ConcernedApe has shared some information about both combat and the chocolate-making process.
I’ve been reading up on Haunted Chocolatier, and there are a couple of new blog posts that give us a better idea of how the game will actually *play*. The first one talks about chocolate making, and ConcernedApe says there’ll be lots of different ways to craft chocolate – some will be about really mastering the systems, while others will feel more natural and, well, intuitive. The other post dives into combat, and it sounds way more involved than Stardew Valley’s! They’re adding a shield system that lets you stun enemies, so playing defensively and timing your blocks will actually be really rewarding. It seems like they’re aiming for a lot more depth in the fighting!
Haunted Chocolatier Development News
It’s been around four years since ConcernedApe first announced Haunted Chocolatier. Since then, they’ve only shared a few updates about specific parts of the game, without giving a detailed overview of its progress. Their latest post, from September 2, 2025, confirmed that while they’re also working on the 1.7 update for Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier is their main focus right now.
The blog post says Haunted Chocolatier is still in development and might even come out before the next big update for Stardew Valley (version 1.7), though there are no firm plans. ConcernedApe has emphasized that he’s working on Haunted Chocolatier by himself and doesn’t have a specific release date in mind yet.
