Celebrations for Hatsune Miku’s 20th anniversary have begun, and fans are now seeing the official outfit she’ll wear throughout the year-long event.
To celebrate Miku’s 20th anniversary in 2027, Crypton Future Media hosted a worldwide contest asking fans to design a special outfit for the popular character.
The winning costume design will be officially recognized as Hatsune Miku’s anniversary outfit. It will be featured in official artwork, and a collectible Nendoroid figure will be made based on the design.
Here’s the design chosen as Hatsune Miku’s official look for her 20th anniversary, plus the two other costumes that the judges really liked.
Hatsune Miku 20th anniversary costume announced
Okay, so I’ve seen a lot of Miku designs, but Ashis (Shisono)’s is seriously the best. It basically turns Miku into a queen! She’s got a crown, tons of jewels, a beautiful cape that flows, and this really cool scepter shaped like a key. It’s just a really regal and amazing look.
The judges selected the design because it felt festive and had meaningful symbolism. They especially liked the scepter shaped like a key, explaining that it represented Miku’s ability to create opportunities and connect people throughout her career.
Okay, so the judges explained that this new Hatsune Miku costume keeps the classic look we all know and love, but they really went all out with jewels and sparkle! They said it makes Miku feel like she’s leading a new wave of creativity with artists and creators everywhere – like she’s building something amazing with all of us.

Along with the news, Miku’s creator, Ashis, expressed gratitude to the worldwide Vocaloid community and shared his thoughts on the lasting influence Miku has had over the last twenty years.
Ashis expressed deep gratitude for winning the grand prize during VOCALOID’s 20th anniversary celebration. They credited the creators working with VOCALOID, including Hatsune Miku, the incredible support of fans worldwide, and everyone who contributed to the platform’s success over the past two decades as the reasons they were able to receive the award.
I’m incredibly grateful to Miku and everyone involved. I hope this event creates lasting, happy memories for all of us!
Besides the main winner, the contest also awarded prizes to two other designers. Shuno received the Good Smile Prize for their costume, “A Bright Future,” which includes flowing sleeves, stars, and a gentle gold color that fades into Miku’s pigtails.
The artist explained that the design was meant to honor the exciting future being built together by Miku and her many global collaborators.
Creator Yukimoto Ritsu was awarded the Crypton Prize for their floral design, featuring the popular virtual singer adorned with pink ribbons, gentle pastel shades, and additional keys.
Now that the official design for Hatsune Miku’s anniversary outfit is finalized, fans will get to see the stunning look in spring 2027. You can view all the submitted designs on the project website.
