Harry Potter series cast another important “character” that may be hard to distinguish from the movie version

Besides casting actors for Harry Potter roles, it’s essential to incorporate vital aspects of the magical universe to create an engaging adaptation. These unique elements will help establish the production’s enchanting ambiance. As for the appearance of Hogwarts and sets, we haven’t seen the final versions yet – the pictures released so far depict locations that are still under construction. However, we do know who will bring a crucial element to life in this story.

The iconic Hogwarts Express has already made a lasting impression in the series, even though it might not feature extensively in the movies. Fans could easily sketch its appearance based on its frequent depiction or perhaps due to its substantial yet brief role. This train serves as a bridge connecting ordinary Muggle London to the magical world of Hogwarts. More importantly, it’s where Harry Potter’s Hogwarts journey commences. It was aboard this train that he first met his friends and experienced pivotal moments.

Since the train featured in HP movies has gained such prominence as a trademark, the makers of the HBO Max series faced quite a challenge in finding a suitable replacement. Interestingly, they opted for a design remarkably alike the one used in the films. The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre has announced that their Wightwick Hall BR (WR) 4-6-0 5MT 6989 steam locomotive will take on the role of the iconic Hogwarts Express. This locomotive, originally bound for scrap, will undergo a 40-year restoration process and eventually become one of the world’s most recognized steam engines.

In the movies, they employ the GWR 4900 Class 5972 Olton Hall locomotive, which resembles Wightwick Hall from the TV show on the outside, but most enhancements to the Olton Hall locomotive are found within. The book’s Hogwarts Express locomotive was red, whereas the one in Wightwick Hall is green – it remains uncertain whether the creators of the series will opt to repaint it, use digital effects to alter its color, or if the train will remain green in this adaptation.

A fascinating detail for hardcore Harry Potter fans is the unveiling of the train that transports students to Hogwarts in the series.
