Harry Potter fans can’t wait to see what Albus Dumbledore will look like in the HBO Max TV series. They found a movie that helped them visualize it

As a die-hard Harry Potter fan, I’ve already caught glimpses of my favorite characters like Harry, Hagrid, and even those Dursleys in the upcoming HBO Max series, thanks to sneak peeks from official sources and leaked set photos. Yet, there are other captivating characters that have left me eagerly waiting for more revelations.

John Lithgow has been cast as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore for the upcoming Harry Potter TV series. Although he won’t start filming until August 2025, Lithgow has already had his first costume fittings, as revealed in an interview on Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast.

While we might not have pictures of Lithgow in Dumbledore’s costume just yet, Harry Potter enthusiasts have devised a creative solution to visualize him in the role. They are referencing a scene from the 2017 film “Daddy’s Home 2”, where Lithgow wore a long robe and had a long white beard. Although the outfit appeared cheap and tacky, being intentionally amateurish, it offers fans a glimpse of what he might resemble as the headmaster of Hogwarts.

You can watch the scene from Daddy’s Home 2 with John Lithgow in a long white beard below.

Although Lithgow might not perfectly embody Albus Dumbledore’s character, there is an essence of the Hogwarts headmaster that he portrays convincingly, making fans confident in his ability to play the role. This is evident in his unique sparkle of an eye, and his performance in “Dexter” demonstrated he can also be somewhat intimidating.

I must admit, it’s quite amusing to observe that very same twinkle in his eye, and let me tell you, he doesn’t shy away from being stern or even a touch menacing! Watching him in Dexter, I can completely understand why they thought he was the perfect fit for the role. -TheRainyConsole
