Although Yellowstone concluded with its fifth season, the expansive Western saga of Taylor Sheridan isn’t drawing to a close anytime soon. This weekend marks the premiere of 1923 Season 2, and various spin-offs are being developed, such as 1944, 6666, a series focused on Beth and Rip, The Madison, with many more likely in store.

Following the triumph of the extraordinary spinoff, 1883, I found myself immersed in the first season of 1923. This time, it was Jacob and Cara Dutton, portrayed by the incredible Helen Mirren, who took center stage as they managed their ranch while navigating the enigmatic Donald Whitfield, played by Timothy Dalton. Simultaneously, a heartwarming romantic tale unfolded between Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and Alexandra (Julia Schlaepfer).

In addition to Mirren, Ford stands out as a major star within the series, yet persuading him to be part of the ensemble was surprisingly effortless.

1923 was the perfect project for Harrison Ford

At the premiere of the second season of “1923,” Ford shared with The Hollywood Reporter his fondness for the Western genre. He expressed, “I’m drawn to its raw intensity, I appreciate the physical aspect of storytelling, and I enjoy being in natural surroundings.

1923 represents a more traditional form of filmmaking, largely devoid of Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI), with minimal use of it as a supplement to set the scene. It’s an authentic, classic narrative style that I find fascinating and enjoyable to work with.

Instead of playing a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus Ross (the Red Hulk), he has taken on a completely different character in “Captain America: Brave New World.

At the recent premiere, I couldn’t help but sing the praises of Taylor Sheridan. His exceptional writing and unparalleled storytelling are a breath of fresh air – I haven’t encountered anything quite like it in my gaming or viewing experience.

Contrary to whispers on the Captain America set, Ford was reportedly a highly supportive colleague towards the rest of the cast.
