It’s been confirmed that Harrison Ford won’t be appearing at the Academy Awards on Sunday evening.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I couldn’t help but notice the sudden absence of Harrison Ford from the Oscars on Saturday. According to Entertainment Weekly, who broke the news first, his unexpected departure was due to a shingles diagnosis received on Friday. The Mayo Clinic explains that shingles is an incurable viral infection, not life-threatening, but it can be quite uncomfortable, characterized by a painful rash that appears as a single stripe of blisters wrapping around either the left or right side of one’s torso.
Ford’s reps did not return EbMaster’s request for inquiry regarding the shingles diagnosis.
The following individuals are still scheduled to take the stage at the 97th Academy Awards at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater on Sunday evening: Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, Bowen Yang, Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Robert Downey Jr., Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldaña and Rachel Zegler. The Academy confirmed on Friday that Miles Teller and Miley Cyrus will also be presenters at the event.
This year’s Academy Awards ceremony will be hosted by Conan O’Brien, commencing on March 4 at 4 p.m. Pacific Time and 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Movie enthusiasts can catch the event live on ABC or alternatively stream it on Hulu, a new viewing option introduced for the first time this year.
The Academy Awards are being overseen by showrunners Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan, and Rob Pain. Produced by Sarah Levine Hall, Taryn Hurd, Jeff Ross, and Mike Sweeney, Hamish Hamilton is set to direct the event.
