In essence, Tekken 8 Season 2 has sparked widespread disapproval within the gaming community, with professional players even contemplating resignation due to the changes, and the game receiving negative reviews consistently for several days.
Some individuals expressed concerns regarding the update following an initial glance at its innovative maneuvers, fearing that it might excessively prioritize offensive strategies, potentially neglecting defensive tactics altogether.
In a nutshell, the Season 2 update is out, but it’s not being met with favorable reviews; both professional gamers and casual players have expressed strong disapproval.
After the announcement, it’s clear that Harada has shared some insights. Alongside a tweet from the Tekken 8 crew about addressing some major concerns in an upcoming patch, he’s given us a glimpse into what’s brewing behind the scenes to get Tekken back on its winning streak as a gamer.
Harada responds as Tekken 8 Season 2 gets unprecedented backlash
Over time, the Tekken series has experienced both successes and setbacks, with certain titles like Tekken 4 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 causing some negative impacts in the long run.
Nevertheless, the Tekken series stands as one of the most significant in fighting game genres. The debut of Tekken 8 broke all sales records, shifting more copies than any previous installment within hours, reaching an impressive 3 million units sold. However, the introduction of Season 2 was intended to rejuvenate player interest and inject freshness into the formula; unfortunately, it has had the opposite effect.
As a gamer, I’ve dived back into the game after the Season 2 patch, only to find a whole new ballgame! Over 1500 changes were made, many of which tipped the scales in unexpected ways, completely throwing off the balance. Worse still, some of these adjustments have left certain characters defenseless against new unlockable combos and moves they can’t even interrupt. The community’s response has been swift and severe – it seems we’re all struggling to adapt!
combatants,
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the community feedback surrounding Tekken 8 Season 2. We’re diligently working on fine-tuning the game’s balance; look for updates about these adjustments in the near future.
On top of that, we plan to roll out an emergency update in April to tackle the issues below:

They verified solutions for the issues in Paul’s unstoppable string configuration and the frame trap on Jack’s “Make Some Noise” string setup, which left no opportunity to counter without a Power Crush or similar armored moves, as well as additional modifications.
Harada has also spoken on the topic, saying the following in response to fan backlash:
As a gamer, I can’t help but notice the discord between the desired game balance the community craves and the current tuning outcomes. I get that some might criticize my words, but right now, it’s not about that. The core issue is the disconnect, and we need to focus on addressing it before anything else.
He mentioned that our Battle & Tuning team is constantly reviewing community feedback logs, day and night, to develop new strategies and modifications aimed at improving our future policies and updates.
In other words, it’s important to note that the new update won’t be available right away; instead, the April emergency fix will tackle some but not all of the problems temporarily.
Legendary Tekken player, Knee, has gone so far as to label Tekken 8 Season 2 as “mindless” and demonstrated some of his skills using the latest update.

In the Tampa Never Sleeps weekly tournament, TrizzyTheRapper, who usually plays Yoshimitsu, caused chaos when the update was released, masterfully exploiting Jack’s latest moves to secure a top 8 position, even though he is not well-versed in the character’s other techniques.

These modifications aren’t met with approval by all Tekken players, and in some severe instances, they’ve expressed their disagreement in various ways.
The Tekken 8 content creator, known as Sodam, took his activism to the streets of Korea, circulating through a local market and repeatedly shouting the phrase “Jack” in real life.

steam-reviews-have-continued-to-dive, as hordes of upset Tekken enthusiasts, numbering in the thousands, have been flooding in with negative feedback following the release of the latest patch
Time will tell whether the emergency fix and future upgrades can win supporters and sustain Tekken’s longevity.
