‘Happy’s Place’ Starring Reba McEntire Renewed for Season 2 at NBC

The multi-cam comedy “Happy’s Place” has been renewed for Season 2 at NBC, EbMaster has learned.

I had the pleasure of following the comeback of Reba McEntire to the sitcom scene with the show’s premiere on NBC on October 18th. In November, it was officially greenlit for a complete season at the broadcast network.

According to NBC reports, the initial episode attracted a total of 17.6 million viewers across various platforms. Moreover, the program has significantly boosted NBC’s Friday 8 p.m. slot, increasing the number of overall viewers by 54% compared to the previous season.

In addition to McEntire, the actors are Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn as well.

In the show’s official description, it’s mentioned that Bobbie (McEntire) finds out she’s inherited her father’s tavern, which comes as a shock because she didn’t know she had a new business partner, Isabella (Escobedo), who is her half-sister in her twenties. This sister was previously unknown to her.

The duo Kevin and Julie Abbott are responsible for establishing “Happy’s Place.” In the executive producer role, Kevin collaborates with McEntire, Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Matt Berry, and Pamela Fryman. The production studio is Universal Television.

The show titled “Happy’s Place” has been praised by critics, boasting a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season. In her review for EbMaster, Aramide Tinubu stated that despite only receiving two episodes in advance, ‘Happy’s Place’ has so far been nostalgic, humorous, and heartfelt. The show features a diverse group of characters, and McEntire’s unique humor is evident throughout the comedy. Set in Tennessee, the sitcom seems to resonate with audiences universally as it tackles themes of family, friendship, and generational differences while paying tribute to the rhythmic style and mood of classic TV shows.

The sitcom ‘Happy’s Place’ has joined ‘St. Denis Medical’ as NBC comedies that have been granted a second season. This decision was made in January for ‘St. Denis Medical.’ However, the status of other NBC comedies like ‘Night Court’ and ‘Lopez vs. Lopez,’ both in their third seasons, is still undecided regarding renewals for the next season. Similarly, the freshman medical drama ‘Brilliant Minds’ is yet to hear about a potential second season.
