Halloween: The Game, a new horror game where players take on different roles, will be released on PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 on September 8, 2026. The announcement was made during a recent Sony livestream event on September 24th.
In Halloween: The Game, you can choose to play as either Michael Myers, the terrifying killer, or one of the civilians desperately trying to survive his attacks. First revealed at Gamescom 2025, the game offers both a solo experience and online multiplayer. If you prefer not to play against other people, you can practice being Myers against computer-controlled opponents.
IllFonic’s aim is to deliver a truly terrifying experience in the upcoming Halloween game, with both solo and cooperative gameplay options. According to Chief Creative Officer Jared Gerritzen, players will be able to either become the iconic killer Michael Myers or fight as one of his potential victims, creating a memorable and intense struggle for survival.
In this game, you can play as a regular person trying to help their community. Race against the clock to guide neighbors to safety, find useful items, and call for police assistance. Success depends on careful planning, working together, and making quick choices. If you play as Michael Myers, you’ll have special abilities like a quick, silent movement to sneak around and attack unexpectedly.
Illfonic, the studio behind the upcoming game, previously created Friday the 13th: The Game, a popular asymmetrical survival-horror title released in 2017. Unfortunately, the online servers for Friday the 13th were taken down in December 2024. Illfonic has also adapted other popular horror franchises into games, including Predator: Hunting Grounds and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed.
