Haliey Welch, more commonly recognized as ‘Hawk Tuah girl’ on the internet, has disclosed insights from a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) probe concerning the cryptocurrency coin launch that ignited controversy against her in the past year.
In December 2024, Welch gained widespread attention again following the debut of her self-created cryptocurrency token, ‘$Hawk.’ However, this new venture quickly drew criticism from online users who branded the coin as a “fraudulent” or “scam” endeavor.
Due to an immediate drop in the value of her Hawk coin, critics and industry professionals began questioning if early investors had abruptly withdrawn the token, a move known as “rug pulling,” supposedly for quick profits at the expense of newer buyers who were left in a disadvantaged position.
After a prolonged period of absence from social media following a fiery video conference with figures such as FaZe Banks and Coffeezilla, along with legal action from investors, Welch finally made a return in March 2025. This comeback was officially confirmed, and she even disclosed the results of an independent probe concerning the product launch.

According to TMZ, the US Securities and Exchange Commission investigated Welch’s $Hawk coin, but found no evidence that he was responsible for any misconduct during its release.
According to her lawyer, James Sallah, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) concluded their investigation without finding fault with Haliey or requesting financial penalties against her.
He mentioned that since no actions were taken against her regarding cryptocurrencies or securities in the past, she is free to engage in any activities related to these areas in the future without any limitations.
Over the last several months, I’ve collaborated with relevant authorities and legal professionals, and now, that task has been successfully finished, as Welch conveyed to TMZ. She expressed joy at resuming her activities once more following a break she took during the upheaval caused by her coin’s controversy.
During an episode of a podcast before the SEC’s probe wrapped up, Welch candidly shared her reflections on the project’s debut and its subsequent consequences, labeling it as “the greatest professional misstep” she had made in her career.
According to Haliey, she believed the coin was intended to be handled correctly, stating it was “meant to be done properly.” Additionally, she understood that half of the earnings from $Hawk were meant for her charity, which is why she agreed to participate. She saw it as a positive endeavor.
Hawk Tuah’s daughter, Hailey Welch, emotionally expressed her thoughts on the suspected rug pull of her cryptocurrency.
