Okay, so everyone’s going crazy over Half-Life 3 right now! Seriously, a ton of us players really think it might finally be happening. I’ve been spending way too much time on Reddit, and it’s a mix of excitement and people being cautious – and of course, some people trying to trick others. But honestly, the hype is just massive, you can really feel it!
November with Half-Life 3
The entire situation feels absurd, fueled by gossip and chatter from people within the gaming industry and well-known personalities. Despite this, many gamers strongly believe an announcement for Half-Life 3 is imminent, and there are several reasons why they think so.
- Half-Life: Alyx was revealed on November 18;
- the first Half-Life launched on November 19;
- the second installment of the series was released on November 16.
Since all three dates are in November, it makes sense that Half-Life 3 might be revealed this month, and fans are understandably thrilled about the possibility.
Valve recently announced new hardware, and many players think a new Half-Life game – possibly Half-Life 3 – will be a key feature, just like Half-Life: Alyx was for the Valve Index. Those who played the latest game likely noticed the ending hinted at future installments.
Journalists and insiders are stirring up the situation
The excitement is building so much that fans believe they’ve found a clue in an eye emoji posted by Geoff Keighley on X (formerly Twitter). He’d previously shared a screenshot of his Steam wishlist, which only contained one game. When asked what the game was, he simply replied with the eye emoji.
The initial post received a huge response, so the journalist followed up with another image. This time, he revealed the mysterious title was actually “Dadlympics,” not the long-awaited “Half-Life 3.” Keen-eyed gamers quickly spotted that he had added it to a list on the very same day the screenshot was shared.
So, yesterday, I was really excited to see NateTheHate jump into the Half-Life 3 conversation! He said he’s actually heard something about it, but things are super confusing and some of the info he’s got is already sounding outdated. He’s smart though – he’s holding off on sharing anything until he can get a clearer picture of what’s actually happening. It’s frustrating, but I appreciate him not wanting to spread rumors!
Content creator Gabe Follower, who specializes in Valve games, has highlighted a common pattern among many fans of the Half-Life series. He described it as a repeating cycle with just two phases:
- Half-Life 3 will be announced TOMORROW.
- If nothing happens, read the first part again.

It’s hard to picture what things are like inside Valve right now. The employees are the only ones who truly know what’s happening, and they’re likely either amused by the ongoing joke about Half-Life 3 never being released, or they’re feeling the pressure of trying to live up to huge expectations with their next game.
