The third part of the Half-Life series is much like the legend of a Yeti – although its authenticity has not been officially acknowledged, there’s widespread speculation among fans that it exists. Unlike the elusive snow creature, however, Valve’s upcoming game seems to drop hints and evidence, fueling hope that one day we’ll finally get to experience it.
A user online, known as Stannis Loyalist, recently uncovered a hint in an update for the game Deadlock (as reported by PCGamesN). In this update, he spotted references to the HLX project, which some believe is the codename for Half-Life 3. What makes this finding unusual is that one of the lines of code suggests the inclusion of technology used to generate extra FSR3 frames.
A data analyst hypothesizes that the link between HLX and AMD tech might suggest the game has reached an advanced stage of production, perhaps even nearing completion. Additionally, it’s said that the secretive Valve project is expected to be unveiled sometime in the remainder of this year.
Over the next few months, we’ll see if 2025 will indeed be when Half-Life 3 is announced, as anticipated. Interestingly, Valve’s website hints at two upcoming games. One of them is Deadlock, but the second one remains a mystery for now.
