Hades 2: The Warsong Update Adds Ares, Animal Familiar, New Songs, And “Final Confrontation”

In this latest major update for Supergiant’s Hades 2, fans are greeted with a familiar character – Melinoë, the Underworld Princess and Zagreus’ sister from the original game, who now joins forces with Ares, a powerful figure known for his extreme violence. This alliance allows Melinoë to benefit from Ares’ special abilities, as he can now bestow his boons upon her. Furthermore, players will encounter animal companions in this update, and several existing boons have been refined for improved gameplay.

In the context of the early access phase of Hades 2, the Warsong Update is a complimentary, self-installing update. You might be required to reboot your Steam client to kick off the installation process. Here’s an overview of the fresh features and enhancements you can expect in the game.

  • The Final Confrontation: Battle to the summit of Mount Olympus and discover what awaits…
  • New Olympian: Meet the god of war himself, and choose from his many Boons
  • New Familiar: Find one last animal companion to join your journey and aid you in battle
  • Revamped Boons: Gain many powerful new and improved blessings from various Olympians
  • Revamped Altar of Ashes: Activate several reworked effects, and each Card now has all-new artwork
  • Revamped Resource Gathering: Worry no more about which resources you can collect
  • Revamped Menus: Look for new and improved animations across many menu screens
  • Expanded Story: Discuss the final confrontation and more with many different characters

Regarding gameplay, players currently don’t focus on acquiring Gathering Tools in the Training Grounds. However, they can still collect any resource once they have unlocked each respective tool. Previously, Psyche was rewarded as a location reward; now, you may encounter Bones more quickly instead.

1. Firstly, all Guardians and Wardens with Guardian-like health bars are now immune to the sluggishness caused by your spells; this was previously only applicable to some of them, so be cautious.

2. Secondly, any damage resistance effects you possess no longer apply to your armor. Essentially, your armor’s protection is independent of your damage resistance.

3. Lastly, Supergiant has tweaked the conditions for specific crucial events at the beginning. Consequently, it might now be possible to ascend to the surface faster than before.

The updated collection of Boon modifications is available for you to review. This includes the revised Chaos’ Barren, which, following community input, now shortens the duration of Curses.

During the development of Hades II, Early Access remains crucial, as it’s evident in our significant updates and patches. Supergiant expresses their hope that you can see this dedication reflected in these releases. Now that the foundational structures of both the Underworld and Surface routes are complete, we’re eager to delve into adding more content across various categories, polishing off what we’ve already begun…until it’s all done!
