Following approximately a year and four months of Early Access, it appears that Hades 2 is preparing for its official debut. The team at Supergiant Games has hinted at what could potentially be the last update prior to the game’s release.
Towards the close of 2022, it was unveiled that Hades 2 had been announced by the esteemed Supergiant team. This would be their inaugural sequel, a new milestone for them. Given the massive following enjoyed by the initial game, the news caused quite a stir in the gaming world.
After completing a short technical trial, the Early Access phase officially started on May 5, 2024. In a short span of days, this initial build broke records for the development team. It soon became an enormous success on Steam, simultaneously hosting over 100,000 players and claiming the position as the top-selling title during that period.
Since then, developers have consistently been making improvements, frequently releasing updates that enhance replayability and widen the overall gaming experience, similar to the initial game as it progressed through Early Access.
At last, it seems that the full release of Hades 2’s 1.0 version is just around the corner. Supergiant Games has hinted that the wait won’t be much longer.

Hades 2 drawing near to full release
On June 17, 2025, the highly anticipated final significant update for Early Access, dubbed “The Unseen Update,” was unveiled. This update, as usual, introduced a variety of fresh gameplay elements, dialogues, and of course, an abundance of new combat strategies for Melinoë.
At the time of release, devs simply advised fans to keep an eye on the Development Roadmap for details on an “eventual” 1.0 release. Days later, however, a new minor patch with smaller tweaks teased that said 1.0 launch might not be far off.
We’ll continue to review your feedback, as we approach what seems to be our last update before the v1.0 release, whenever that occurs!
Although it’s unclear exactly when the complete version of Hades 2 will become available, we can confidently say that the 1.0 build is most likely to be released next.
To give you an idea for comparison, the initial version of Hades was in Early Access from December 2018 until September 2020, which amounts to approximately 21 months. If Hades 2 adheres strictly to this timeline, then its complete launch would occur around March 2026. However, it’s quite unlikely that the development will follow such a trajectory.
It seems that the official release is expected towards the last quarter of 2025, but keep in mind that it may not be available on every platform simultaneously. Notably, the game called Supergiant was showcased during a Nintendo Direct event, which means there will be a period where it is exclusively playable on their consoles before being released for other platforms.
When the complete release of Hades 2 occurs, it will initially be accessible on Personal Computers as well as both the Nintendo Switch and its potential successor, the Switch 2. Unfortunately, we can’t predict exactly when PlayStation and Xbox users will get to play it.
