Gwyneth Paltrow Calls Ski Trial ‘Everything That’s Wrong With Our Legal System,’ Was Determined Not to Be ‘Shaken Down’

Two years following the sensational 2023 civil trial that swept across the internet, Gwyneth Paltrow has broken her silence regarding the case that began on the ski slopes in Utah.

On April 24th, Gwyneth Paltrow appeared as a guest on “The World’s First Podcast,” during which she discussed the ski trial involving a hit-and-run incident that was brought to court by a jury. In 2016, Terry Sanderson sued Paltrow for $3.1 million following a ski collision on a Utah mountain. In response, Paltrow filed a countersuit of $1 million, alleging that it was Sanderson who was at fault. After deliberating for only about three hours, the jury ruled in favor of Paltrow.

Paltrow expressed her thoughts, stating, ‘It’s hard to believe someone could ski into you from behind, sending you tumbling, and then file a lawsuit against you.’ She replied, ‘This exemplifies everything that’s flawed about our legal system.'”

Or more casually:

“Paltrow commented, ‘Someone skis into you from behind, knocks you over, and then sues? That’s just wrong! It shows everything that’s messed up with our legal system.’

She went on saying, “It was absolutely absurd,” she explained. “So, I felt compelled to challenge it. It was more like, ‘I won’t let myself be intimidated here.’ I refuse to comply with that.

The trial drew significant attention for the media’s examination of Paltrow’s court attire and conduct, along with her poised response to winning. Following this, she expressed good wishes towards Sanderson as she exited the courtroom.

After the decision was made, Paltrow expressed in a statement, “I believed that agreeing to a baseless accusation undermined my integrity. I am content with the result and I express gratitude for Judge Holmberg’s and the jury’s diligent efforts in overseeing this case, and for their thoughtful consideration.
