Olympian Gus Kenworthy is hinting he’d love to be in Crave’s Heated Rivalry, and is available after the Milan games. He told the New Yorker he’s a capable hockey player, having played through high school. “I can skate and handle a stick,” he joked, after learning season two is filming soon. With stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams already at the Olympics, Kenworthy thinks it’s the perfect location for a cameo.
Kenworthy would be a great fit for the show. He made history in 2015 as the first openly gay action sports star, and he found parallels between his own experiences and the relationship between Shane and Rose on the series. After the Sochi Games in 2014, he briefly dated Miley Cyrus, whom he described as his equivalent of Rose – a famous and desirable partner. However, he explained that even though he admired Cyrus’s success and beauty, being with a man felt different. He genuinely liked her, but he struggled with the dynamic, realizing he didn’t want to continue a relationship built on anything less than honesty. He recalls questioning his actions and wanting to break the cycle of dishonesty. Cyrus was supportive when Kenworthy came out, publicly expressing her pride in their friendship.
