Amazon Prime Video removed artwork showing James Bond without a gun after receiving many complaints from fans.
James Bond is a skilled and dangerous operative authorized to use lethal force. He often defeats his enemies with his famous Walther PPK pistol.
Interestingly, around the time of ‘James Bond Day’ on October 5th, Amazon removed an image of the firearm from its Prime Video content in the UK.
Someone edited the movie posters to remove the gun, which upset many fans of the spy character.
James Bond fans clap back at gunless 007
Amazon released new posters for the James Bond films, and in some cases, they digitally removed guns from photos of Bond holding them – especially in posters for ‘Dr. No,’ ‘Octopussy,’ and ‘Goldeneye.’ It’s a pretty weak move.

As a Bond fan, I immediately noticed the shift – no guns for 007! And honestly, the internet exploded with jokes about it. Everyone was making fun of a Bond who wasn’t packing heat.
I was reading some reactions to the new Bond stuff, and it’s wild! One person said he was just being charming and defusing things, while another joked he’s been reduced to just… slapping people. But the thing that really got me was someone complaining that they’re trying to promote James Bond *without* his gun! Can you believe it? It feels like a totally different Bond now.
Actor Rufus Jones noticed that recent Bond posters on Amazon appear to show the actors making an offensive gesture with their gun hands. He joked that it looks like Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan are calling people names.
Amazon edited the James Bond posters, removing the guns, which now makes it look like Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan are giving viewers a rude gesture.

With Amazon now owning the James Bond franchise, many fans are worried about the future of the iconic 007 character. Some are openly critical of the changes Amazon is making, with one person jokingly calling the company “wet wipes.” A common fear is that Amazon will sanitize the franchise, as evidenced by reports that guns have been removed from James Bond movie thumbnails, leading some to believe any hope for the franchise under Amazon’s control is fading.
Deadline reports that the initial artwork was swapped for images from the James Bond films over the weekend. Amazon has not offered a statement about the change.
Work on the next James Bond film has begun, and Denis Villeneuve, the director of Dune, will be leading the project after he finishes the third Dune movie.
Here’s a look at the exact qualities the next James Bond actor needs, and which Bond film director Denis Villeneuve loves the most.
