Guardians Of The Galaxy Alum Weighs In On Whether They’ll Return For Avengers: Doomsday

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Howard The Duck has been present, but not consistently so. He primarily serves as a supporting character in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, yet he also puts in a significant effort in Avengers: Endgame, joining the forces of good to battle Thanos and his army. Additionally, we find him married to Darcy Lewis in an alternate universe, as depicted in What If…?. As for future appearances, it seems we’ll have to wait for further announcements, as Seth Green hints that Howard The Duck may not be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday.

During an interview with The Direct, Green expressed skepticism when asked if he might appear in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up. Given that filming for Avengers: Doomsday is currently underway, he believes that if there was a role for Howard The Duck available, he would have been informed by now and hasn’t received any such call. In his own words, the actor stated…

It seems unlikely that I was informed about that happening in advance. No one provided me with a guide or prepared me with discussion topics, so I am not at all hopeful that it will occur.

It seems that, as things stand, there’s a possibility that characters like Seth Green’s Howard The Duck, along with others from James Gunn’s cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, might not make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday. Out of the numerous stars confirmed for the 2026 blockbuster, none are associated with the cosmos-based heroes or villains from Gunn’s universe, which includes Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord (Peter Quill) who was expected to return after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Seth Green recently lent his voice to Howard The Duck in Season 3 of Disney+’s animated “What If”…? series, but as per the actor, there haven’t been any talks about him reprising the character for a live-action project at Marvel Studios. If the opportunity to voice Howard never arises again, Green seems to be taking it in stride and appears unbothered by the situation. Regarding any updates on this matter, Green stated that he hasn’t heard anything yet.

Absolutely not, there’s no significant change…I adore playing this character. It’s one of the most honorable experiences for me. Frankly, you can’t fathom how profound this role has been for me, in all the unique ways I’ve explored it. Simply put, it’s amazing.

The upcoming film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” started production earlier this year, and it’s set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Starring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside the Infinity Saga heroes Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hiddleston, plus the New Avengers cast members Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Sebastian Stan. Additionally, it features the Fantastic Four actors Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, as well as the original X-Men stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Kelsey Grammar.

It’s still uncertain about many details surrounding the upcoming MCU blockbuster, but it’s safe to assume that we’ll learn plenty about this project over the next year or so. Keep an eye out here at TopMob for updates in the coming months as more information becomes available regarding this highly anticipated production.
