Video games showcase some outstanding interactive art, and if you seek a compelling demonstration of their artistic influence, then Gris and Neva by Nomada Studio are excellent choices. These graceful games will soon be available as a bundle in a Collector’s Edition, which is exclusively offered at GameStop for preorder at $200 before its release on November 21 for PS5 or Switch.
If the Collector’s Edition gets sold out or if you prefer not to wait until November, the Deluxe Editions of Gris and Neva, which were released this month, are also available. Although they don’t come with as many additional items, they still offer excellent versions of the games and are more budget-friendly compared to the Collector’s Edition package.
The $50 Gris Deluxe Edition includes the game itself, a CD soundtrack, a special folder (tuck-in box), and a 100-page book showcasing the visual evolution of the game from its initial concept to final production. The $55 Neva Deluxe Edition offers comparable extras: the game, a CD soundtrack, a digital download code for the score, a collector’s box, and an 88-page art book filled with sketches, concepts, and other development designs for Neva.
For those who prefer the basic gameplay, both “Gris” and “Neva” standard versions can be found on PS5 and Nintendo Switch platforms.
These two works have garnered favorable feedback since they debuted, with critics applauding them for delicately addressing sensitive themes through an artistic perspective. “Gris” is a serene platformer set in a world on the brink of collapse, where players embark on an exploration of a desolate landscape that symbolizes the five stages of grief as the main character.
Neva’s narrative isn’t just about climate change and the devastation of nature; it delves deeper into the themes of parenthood and the emotions connected to it, as portrayed by the characters Alba and her wolf, Neva.
