Grant Hill Expands College Basketball Duties in New Deal With Warner Bros. Discovery

Grant Hill will have even more to say about college basketball in the not-too-distant future.

The renowned NBA player and co-owner of the Atlanta Hawks is set to assume extra sports broadcasting responsibilities under a fresh agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery‘s TNT Sports. Starting from this contract, Hill will remain the primary game commentator for TNT Sports and CBS Sports during their joint coverage of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. However, he will also join the team covering Big East and Big 12 basketball, as Warner Bros. Discovery plans to start broadcasting these leagues during the 2025-26 season.

In a statement, Hill expressed how deeply college basketball has influenced his life, both as a player and later as a commentator. He finds great joy in being associated with the collegiate game, the athletes who compete, and their extraordinary tales. He is grateful to TNT Sports for allowing him to continue this journey with them and eagerly anticipates what seems to be an outstanding Final Four weekend, with many more exciting events to follow.

Bill, famed for his basketball career spanning Duke University and multiple NBA clubs, has been associated with TNT Sports since 2013. Beginning on Monday, he’ll offer insightful analysis for the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship – marking his tenth time contributing in this capacity.

Warner Bros. Discovery seems to be shifting its focus towards collegiate sports, as indicated by the acquisition of a new collection of live events. Previously, they had ended their longtime partnership with the NBA.

In every aspect, Grant is truly a Hall of Famer, significantly impacting the sport at all levels,” stated Nate Smeltz, senior vice president for talent relations and global communications at TNT Sports. “From the moment he chose broadcasting, Grant has been an integral part of our TNT Sports family, and we eagerly anticipate many more years working alongside him.

Hill, a former basketball star at Duke University who won the NCAA championship twice, was honored with induction into the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2016 for his significant impact on the team. He spent 19 years in the NBA, earning seven All-Star selections and playing for teams such as the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and LA Clippers. His exceptional rookie season earned him Co-Rookie of the Year honors in 1995, following his selection in the first round of the NBA Draft in 1994.

In 1996, Hill was on the gold-medal winning men’s basketball team during the Olympic Games. Since 2021, he has been overseeing the USA Men’s National Basketball Team as their managing director. In 2015, he became a partial owner of the Atlanta Hawks and currently serves as the vice chair on their board. Additionally, Hill also holds ownership stakes in the Baltimore Orioles, Orlando Pride, and Orlando City SC.
