Grandma Creates YouTube Channel to Compete with Ms. Rachel

As a doting grandma, I’ve recently taken the plunge into the digital world by setting up my very own YouTube channel. You see, it was my one-year-old grandbaby who seemed more intrigued by online sensation ‘Ms Rachel’ than with me! Determined not to be outshone, here I am, sharing my own stories and experiences in this exciting new venture.

Rachel, a well-known YouTube personality, has gained immense popularity, particularly among parents of little ones. With more than 14 million subscribers, she’s earned this status due to her educational content designed specifically for toddlers.

Similar to how ‘Baby Shark’ and ‘Cocomelon’ gained popularity in families with young children, Ms Rachel has also garnered widespread appeal. However, one grandma didn’t find her appealing.

In the year 2024 during a Christmas visit, a woman who goes by ‘Grandma Llama’ online, discovered her granddaughter Ms Rachel, after finding her daughter’s home. What caught Grandma Llama’s attention was her granddaughter Heavenly, who was engrossed in watching videos on the screen.

Grandma Llama had hoped for a special moment with her grandchild, but instead found that Heavenly seemed to prefer being with Ms. Rachel. This left Grandma Llama feeling slightly disappointed.

Instead of letting others surpass her, Grandma Llama decided to take the lead and establish a presence on YouTube and TikTok. She started posting educational videos on these platforms with the hope that it would catch the eye of her granddaughter.

Grandma Llama is delighted as her videos resonate with kids, just like heaven! This has happened since she launched her page and disseminated the content worldwide. In fact, many children are now joining in, clapping along. ‘People’ was told this by Grandma Llama, who also mentioned receiving a flood of unique requests.

She mentioned that she wished to overcome the space between them and maintain a connection with her grandchild. Plus, the grandchild seemed to love videos from Ms. Rachel. So, she chose to think outside the box and produce entertaining, interactive videos similar to popular online personalities.

On YouTube, Grandma Llama’s channel counts a total of 436 subscribers, whereas her TikTok account is steadily growing with over 1,300 followers. It showcases vibrant videos where she educates Heavenly about shapes and serenades tunes such as ‘The Wheels on the Bus.’

Instead of being exclusive to Heavenly, Grandma Llama’s video content has grown to cater to families everywhere on the web, and it’s a hit with viewers.

One parent wrote in the comments, ‘My 10-month-old reacted joyfully to your tune, and I’m hoping for many more episodes like this!’

When my daughter saw that, she hurried over and asked, ‘Who’s this?’ and if she could watch some more videos.

Someone mentioned you, and my son overheard, then grabbed my phone and picked it up – you’re doing fantastic!” was the compliment received.

Granma Llama explained that she’s built an entire brand around producing enjoyable family content inspired by preschool stories, playtime, and early learning. Furthermore, she plans to generate unique material tailored just for her ‘Heavenly Pudding.’
